Bump? :frowning: The ED thread is really worrying haha

sorry but you dont seem very competitive

I sort of agree with yuan here, but if you write a superb essay, and your teacher recs are very supportive, I feel like you may be in the running. That is, superb = top 1-2 % of applicant pool. Hopefully you have been a powerful force in the classroom (in terms of motivation, discussions, interactions, etc.) and your teachers are really impressed by you by this point. Good luck.

Well I wouldn’t say I’m not competitive, if it’s just my EC’s that are the problem I excell in the few things I do well (which is shown in the app, interview etc). Assuming my essays are really good, what exactly is ‘weak’ with my application?

Hey there,
I’ll keep this short and simple, because I can only give you this advice: You’re probably going to make the “cut off,” meaning that you are on par with most other legitimate applicants. But at that point, you’ll be swiftly swept into the reject pile if you don’t catch the eye of the adcoms, and really stand out. How you stand out is up to you, but this seems to be the situation right now.

I was admitted ED, and my test scores and SATs were only slightly higher than you, but I was still pretty average-- I had a few hooks though.

hey young,
well for a non URM I would first say that your scores and GPA are not too high - that is, it’s probably very average. However, since academic is the most important thing on your application, if your essay shows a lot of passion for something and your teacher recommendations all comment on how you light up the classroom and that you have a lot of intellectual curiosity, you’ll still be in the running. Your recs are good, but remember, ALOT of applicants are going to have a list of extracurriculars, a few of which at least they are an officer of.

And also, there is no guarantees. At all. people with 2350 + with great extracurriculars on the surface get rejected / deferred / waitlisted. To make yourself more competitive though, try to do something impressive with your EC’s (like raise 3,000 dollars or something) or as I said show that you have alot of passion/academic motivation. Good luck brah
