Essay: Pretty good i think (talk about my growth as an individual through community service)

Hook: Different type of community service that connects and helps people thru music. I hope im a little more unique from other Asians because my academics aren't superb, but i have pretty strong EC's and leadership.

Thanks very much once again, and good luck to my fellow class of 2013!

I think you stand a good chance, wlthough would have been better ED. You have a solid resume, with decent albeit not spectacular grades and SATs but really good ECs, from a school in an out of the way place (no offense Albuquerque is nice, but not quite as cool as Santa Fe) with a good placement history at Wash U and likely connections between counselors and Wash U AO. My guess is probably above 50/50 making Wash U a low match.

My son is shooting for Wash U RD as well, and we plan on visiting over the Xmas break (already have had interview).

Well, academics are slightly meh, but I’d bet ECs make up for it. You have about a good a shot as you can get, which sadly doesn’t guarantee admission :(

They supposedly like “nice” and you sound nice  I would get to know your local rep/admissions person. Write emails, ask questions, etc…

some of these tips just apply to applying in general…

thanks for your replies  makes me feel better now. unfortunately my senior grades dipped down a little bit… will that affect my chances?

Probably yeah. Wash U has a reputation for letting in people with lower grades ED (because they care a lot about demonstrated interest) and it’s harder to get in RD.

Which Wash u undergrad school did you select as your number one choice?

probably Olin

I think you have a great chance

You have a small chance. Your SAT score is slightly slow for WashU and your AP grades are pretty unimpressive. Nonetheless, your extraordinary community service works to your advantage, so you never know.

Did you get in?

^ RD decisions aren’t out yet…

Let us know! Just 2 more weeks!!

Pull up to the scene with my ceiling missing!

Good luck!
