Your UW GPA is a little low for some of the reaches, but your SATs, WGPA, and ACTs make up for it. You also have some unique ECs that match your majors. Overall, really strong applicant. Good luck!

I think your biggest advantage is that you diverge from stereotypes. Asian college applicants are stereotyped as math/science/engineering/pre-med, and I think you’ll be successful (or at leas not hindered) by diverging from that stereotype. That said, don’t worry about the unweighted GPA. Class rank might be a more useful, to understand your academic performance in context. Also, it’d be nice to know if the number of APs you’re taking, etc, is normal for your high school or if its exceptional. If its an anomaly, then you should be in good shape for all of these. If, however, it’s around the norm for the top 10-20% of kids at your school, then it might be a little tougher, but you still should be good for all. In fact, I think you could even shoot a little higher at some of these. Either way, good luck, and thanks for commenting on my thread.

Thanks for the evaluation. As it happens, my school doesn’t rank, but I’ve taken a total of 10 AP classes which is generally considered above average for the top 10% of my class. Though I’m not sure b/c there’s one kid who’s taken like 20 something APs so he skews the balance quite significantly.

The one thing that really worries me is that most kids who get in have a much higher GPA than I do, but, and I only learned this recently, most of those kids take way more Honors classes and maybe only 5-6 APs, and as such can maintain a higher GPA, which puts me in quite a strange position.

Also, my GPA is low primarily because I failed really, damned hard as a freshman, do you guys think that will be taken into consideration as well?

Like the others, id say matches for all four! Especially with that 35 act score! Also, write about being the boxer, that’s such a b.a. topic to cover! Good luck! And thanks for chancing me!
