Always hard to know without seeing the full application. The M&T program is tough, very tough. I’d imagine many kids have experience that links them into the program ( engineering or business). Also, I think his scores are low (3 and 4). I think if his math is stronger than his English for combined 1490, that’s better than vice versa.
Perhaps location will help you as well. I’d imagine that competition will be stiff.
Thank you for responding. Yeah, his Math score is high: 790. That gave us hope for an easy admission to Ivies, but now after two rejection letters— UMich and UCB— we are not so sure anymore. Anyone in the same boat here?
I think it’s really tough to get into the specialized programs. Have to focus on the essays and more how you/your kid is a fit.
I think an easy admission to the Ivies doesn’t exist. Even with a 1600 and being an Olympian. There are so many factors. And honestly there are lots of kids with perfect stats so… they have to figure out who’s a fit. Hopefully, he’ll get into a school he likes.
