Chance me RD William and Mary OOS 2023

Hey guys. I’m an out of state senior and I will be applying to W&M RD this fall and was wondering if you guys would chance me for admission. I’m a white male that goes to a very competitive and difficult high school (the top public school in California) which is why my GPA is not that high.

I will also apply to the WM St Andrews joint degree program so any info on that would also be appreciated.

Potential major: History

Objective:
SAT I (Superscored breakdown): 1530 (780 Math, 750 Reading & Writing)
SAT II: 800 French Language, 790 US History,
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): Ranges from 3.8-3.85 depending on which one you look at
Weighted GPA (Out of 5.0): Ranges from 4.1-4.3 depending on which one you look at

Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): NA
AP (place score in parenthesis): French (5), APUSH (5), AP World (5), Lang (5), Psych (5),
Senior Year AP Course Load: AP Lit, AP Gov, AP Econ, AP Physics 1, AP Art History
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): National AP Scholar,

Subjective:
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Founded MUN club and Model Congress, President Speech and Debate,
EDU Inter French Camp Quebec
ACLU Summer Advocacy Institute at Georgetown (This sort of counts as leadership training, training meant to help young people emerge as political leaders in their community) I had some pretty unique experiences, including hearing Edward Snowden speak to us Via Skype
Interned over the summer at the University San Diego Legal Clinics (eventually want to become a lawyer)
Played Piano with the Quebec Conservatory of Music
Soccer (almost 12 years but chose not to play varsity)
Piano (Almost 13 years, awards are mainly regional Guild and CM stuff)
1 yr speech and debate
1 year of Model UN

Essays: Pretty good so far. I would count myself as a pretty good, introspective writer. Mainly about how I can speak 5 languages and how that has/can help me. (I promise the essays sound much better)

Teacher Recommendation:
English and US/Psych Teachers: Both should be pretty good.
Letter of Rec from piano teacher (who is also a college professor): should be great as she has known me for over 10 years
Counselor Rec: Pretty average tbh.
Other
State (if domestic applicant): CA
Country (if international applicant): US
School Type: Competitive top public school
Ethnicity: Not a minority
Gender: Male
Income Bracket:
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Can speak 5 languages, triple citizen, multicultural etc.

I know my EC’s are not fantastic but I would back myself as a pretty good writer and I think I will write a very good essay.
Thanks guys! Pls dont be afraid to give me bad news…

I think you’re a very competitive candidate. Your SAT is high. Your multiple languages align well with W&M’s sensibility. OOS is difficult, but a bit easier for males. I think if you show interest you have a very good chance.

I think you have a good chance of getting in. Also, National AP Scholar requires scoring 4 or higher on 8 AP exams. Although you will probably end up getting this award once you get your senior year AP scores, you are not there yet, so don’t list this as an award on your application. You can list AP Scholar w/distinction however.

Very strong candidate!

what? you got your rejection email?

@monkeygirl15 You got a rejection email???

you got your rejection letter for RD already?

your decision came out???
did u apply ed? I think decisions come out in a few days

@monkeygirl15 Very confused. I just looked at your threads and saw that you posted different stats under the College of Charleston ED thread. You also stated that you had legacy at WM but then stated in your other threads that both your parents went to Charleston. You also stated you had a 29 ACT on those threads whereas here you claim to have a 1580. I might be missing something totally obvious and there could be a reasonable explanation for this discrepancy, yet due to the above reasons, I would not listen to what @monkeygirl15 is saying…
