<p>I'm applying to CALS for Animal Sciences. I was deferred early decision </p>

<p>Senior Year Courses: AP Bio, AP Calc AB, AP Psychology, Honors English, Honors Anatomy
ACT:33 (34 Math, 34 Reading)
SAT: 2050 (1330 M+CR) not very good, i know
Subject tests: US History 770, Chem 640 (terrible!)
GPA: 4.8 W (out of 5)
Distinguished Honors in senior year (1 of 3 seniors to receive this)
AP Score: 5 US History
Awards: Latin and French National exam awards, National Merit, Highest Honor Roll(every quarter 9-12) </p>

<p>Activities:
Volunteering (in and out of school, 250+ hours), Student Council (elected member), Volleyball 9-11, NHS, worked with horses grades 9, 10. Hoping to get a volunteer position at local vet clinic.</p>

<p>Teacher Recs: good, one should be great (teacher loved me)
Essays: really good (wrote one about moving states and schools in my senior year :( and my supplement was about working with horses)</p>

<p>Other:
White, female
School: private, high-ranking school
Went to school in PA for 9-11, moved to NJ in senior year because of dad's job
hooks: dad is a legacy</p>

<p>Take my advice with a grain of salt: I’m just a fellow applicant as well. But it looks like your ACT and GPA is fine (I wouldn’t worry about SAT, I think ACT compensates). Also, it looks good that you have ECs that relate to your interest. That being said, you were deferred so I would say that the chances are a bit lower. I can’t speak for Cornell, but I was deferred from Dartmouth and they said that a very few amount of deferred applicants are accepted RD.<br>
All I can say is that I think you are a competitive candidate, and you shouldn’t give up hope, but I would look at other schools like Cornell caliber (If you’ve already applied to those schools, then start looking at potential majors etc. at those schools).</p>
