I'm in the process of narrowing down my college list.
I will be applying as a business major at these schools listed below

Cornell University
U-Mich Ann Arbor
NYU
Carnegie Mellon
USC
Washington University St. Louis
Boston College
Indiana University at Bloomington
Northwestern University
Emory
Claremont McKenna University
Boston University
Penn State University - University Park
Babson College
University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign
Amherst College
Occidental College
Northeastern University
UC Berkeley
UCLA
UC San Diego

Are you really applying to 21 schools? Try to narrow it down to AT MOST 10.

Applying to all of these schools will not improve your chances of getting into your dream college. It’s hard to complete essays, show interest, and get to know each one of the colleges that you listed above.

REACH
Cornell
Carnegie Mellon
USC
WashU
Emory
UCB
UCLA
Amherst
Claremont McKenna College
Northwestern
University of Michigan

MATCH
Boston College
UC San Diego
Babson
Occidental
NYU
Penn State

SAFETY
Indiana University
University of Illinois

I’d recommend getting rid of most of your reach schools…you should have AT MOST four.

What are you looking for in a college? You can narrow down your list by establishing criteria regarding what you look for in a college.

I would have to disagree with the above post; smeal has always been ranked in the top 20 undergrad b-schools by usnews and virtually all of the programs are strong. Wall street ranked PSU as #1 recruiting school and i would agree with you gk12z2 if it was commonwealth campuses but not for university park/ schreyer’s honor college

Penn State’s business school is actually quite well known, and the University Park campus has an acceptance rate of 54.8%, according to USNWR. That’s actually only 4% higher than University of Michigan–Ann Arbor’s acceptance rate. From those statistics, I think it is more likely considered a “match” rather than a “safety”.

hahah no i am not applying to all these schools. i’m in the process of narrowing down my choices. after all that’s what summer is for. i just wanted to get a clear picture which schools would be considered reach, match, and safeties. thanks for the feedback.

also with NYU, would you say Stern is more competitive than the school of CAS?
