I don’t know American and UoF at all, so I can’t offer my opinion on those schools. For William & Mary, I think you have a very good shot of getting in- I would deem it a match/high match. Same with Georgetown- especially with the political stuff Georgetown will look favorably on that (they are in DC after all). Upenn, Princeton and Yale are reaches for everyone. Again, I don’t know American and UoF at all, but I would recommend some more safeties and lower-matches, not that your application doesn’t look EXCELLENT (it does, IMO), but you want to have all your bases covered just in case. Admissions can be a crapshoot.

I am sorry, but @yonceonhismouth is wrong about Georgetown being a match/high match. Although you may be competitive for Georgetown, it would still be a reach (like it is for basically everybody).

These are fairly selective schools, so chancing you may be difficult. You seem to be competitive for these schools, but each and every year thousands of competitive applicants are denied admission.

Do you live in VA? If not, W&M could be considered a high match. UF and American are safeties, and the rest are reaches for everybody.

Live in Florida @SeinfeldFan1

@Ozymandias1124 well, you are definitely qualified. However, I do know someone that had a ~3.8, 34 ACT, and attended a top 10 public school in the nation. She was OOS and ended up being waitlisted (though I must admit I am not aware of what ECs she participated in ).

So I’m pretty sure either American or William and Mary top my list. What chance would you give me just for those schools alone?

You have a pretty safe shot at those two schools (matches).

Are finances a big factor in your decision?

Yes, finances will be a big factor. Chances at merit of either of those places?

Can’t afford Georgetown anyway

Lets look at this step by step:
4.0 GPA UW (Amazing, but if you took easier classes early on in high school and just started taking harder classes in junior/senior year then colleges will notice)
1460 SAT (Kind of low, especially when the new SAT is out of 1600)
34 ACT (Average SAT for Yale, so good)
AP Exams (Lots of 5s and one 4, that good)

The only problem I see here are your extracirriculars. The honor societies I will consider as clubs (correct me if I am wrong). According to that, you are in 10 clubs, 2 sports, a Youth Mentor, Political Staffer for Local Judge, Poll Clerk, Tutor, Self-Published Author, AIDS Refugee Worker, and a Soccer Referee. (Note: You said self- published author twice so did you publish something twice). The three main concerns here are that you a) have no focus on what you want to do, b) do nothing expectional in any of these subject areas and c) somehow find time to do the clubs, sports, volunteering and everything else and still get a 4.0 gpa. As a person looking through your application, it is clear to me that you just joined the clubs to pad up your extracirriculars. It would have been better if you joined 2-3 clubs and one honor society in your favorite subject (Dont do sports unless you are good enough too be ranked). Then focus on those 2-3 clubs. If you want to help AIDS victims, then start a fundraiser or a non profit company to help AIDS victims. If you want to help disadvantaged youth then start your own youth mentorship program. These are the types of things that you should do to make your extracirriculars expectional and make them look like you enjoy being in them. Because at the moment, you look like you just join clubs, try to gain a leadership position and do nothing to advance the club.

P.S No college takes self publishing seriously. Anyone can self publish anything. If you want to be expectional, try to publish in a journal or magazine. Or just send it to the colleges.

PPS: Not trying to mean. Just pretending to be the person who reads through these applications.

UF Is going to be your low cost option
