Chance me - RPI

I am currently a senior in an average public HS and I was wondering what my chances at getting into RPI for chemical engineering.

Wgpa = 3.75
UWgpa = 3.45

SAT
Writing 800
Reading 740
Math 680 (this is what makes me incredibly nervous)

Taking sat 2 math 2 and chem in december(will this influence the application process if I submit th candidates choice app in. November?)

increasingly rigorous course load thought high school, have taken AP writing/comp (5) and AP

chem (4) currently in AP calc, Lit and physics.

ECs = 4 years marching band, president of chess club,vp science league, black belt tae Kwon
do, NHS, life scout (soon to be eagle), 100+community service hours through scouts

Solid essays that I tried to focus around how motivated I am and my interest in RPI, I will also be calling the admissions office to ask a few questions, maybe this will show them I am very interested?

Question, is that 680 a killer for an engineer anywhere or is it solid enough for example the Rutgers/UDEL engineering but maybe not RPI?

Thanks in advance! :)

Rutgers: Low match
UDel: Match
RPI: High match

UDel and Rutgers are just fine. However, I agree that RPI may tend towards the “reach” side of things because of the low math score.

I also come from a pretty average public high school in NJ (im assuming you are in NJ because you mentioned RU) and I think you should be fine getting in. For my school, average UW GPA was like a 3.53 and 1940 SAT for those accepted into RPI, so considering that, I think you will get in

But RPI seems to put more emphasis on the math subscore.

Thats what worries me, do you think the sat 2 math 2 in december will make a difference?

Depends on how high you score…

What I meant was if I got a higher score, for example a 750 would it make up for the 680, and if the score would even get in in time to be considered since I am taking it in dec.

Depends entirely on how high you score, especially for math.

I honestly think you’re fine for RPI…
