Don't be afraid to be brutally honest! I appreciate all input!

looks pretty darn good, except i dont get how u can have 3.8 gpa and be ranked 3rd, unless its ur college coourses. Nonetheless the rankign is high and im pretty sure they only consider the highest between act and sat. Im not sure wheter the presidential scholars award is really rare but if it is, then i guess u hve a pretty good shot. You seem to be good at a lot of stuff but one thing isnt OUTSTNADING u noe? Gluck!~

I hope you get in, I get in, and we both meet. You’re a model, and I’ve heard Stanford’s attractiveness could ante-up.

you are a competitive canidate and a model ^_^.
More reasons to go to stanford !

wow. an asian abercrombie model? that’s like un heard of.

btw, Chinese is not URM.

Hahaha why are you telling her the obvious?
Good chances I say

because she said her hook was URM…

whaaaat? how is first generation in the US = URM

wow your a model. I would also like to meet you. haha

^^^^MrPrez learn to read:

Other

State: IL

School Type: Public

Ethnicity: Asian (Chinese)

Gender: Female

Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): First generation in the US. very diversified
interests

LOL sadface, ur so silly.

yea i was just about to say, i was just answering what the prompt said
i completely realize that being asian hurts me but thats ok
and im 3rd because the college courses and the extra AP classes i take in place of the regular classes i take over the summer. i have about 3 or 4 more AP/college credits than most people so my weighted GPA is higher. it says its out of 5.0 but unless you take extra courses a 5.0 is impossible to achieve. its weird i know

and the whole asian model thing. haha i know its weird. i used to model on the side as a job too but my friend told me not to include it cuz he thought it made me look air headed to the admissions office. i had originally wrote part of my essay on the adversity i had to face working at a place where being asian is unheard of but again, same friend told me it made me appear shallow so i changed it and made it rather generic about how i wanted to be a doctor n such

being attractive doesn’t make you shallow… and I thought a&f only hired 18+. at least, that’s the way it is in Florida.

a&f only hires 18+
abercrombie (kids one) hires from 17 and older
i started working the week after my 17th birthday actually

how do you have a 3.8 unweighted gpa but a 4.98 weighted?

extra coarses. my school does a weird formula for GPA where if you take more courses than someone in your grade can it helps your weight gpa alot. honestly i dont really know the formula but all i know is that thats the gpas on my report cards and my counselor told me it was because of the extra credits i had.

i wish my school did that, i’d be number one by like a full point

Honestly, your chances cannot be calculated. My friend had a unweighted 4.0 and a 2400 on the SAT (albeit their second try). They were wait-listed. Most of the applicant pool is qualified. Stanford knows that. Stanford has an idea of the dynamics of the class of 2013. If you contribute to that idea, they will accept you.

Its more of who you are than what your scores are.

i do understand what you mean geckolord
thats why they always emphasize how important it is to show yourself in your application
which is partially why i regret taking my friends advice
im worried it may be too generic

and your friend may have just been really unlucky
a family friend, she got in with a 2200 and a 33 ACT
nothing exceptional or distinguishing about her either
im just assuming she was lucky and had what they were looking for

I think/hope it has a lot to do with the essays. Hopefully your essays showed something about you that they want.
