Since my GPA is weaker than average is it even worth it to apply ED, I've been told both sides what do you all think?

ED should mean that W&M is your first choice school. You’re committed to attend if you’re accepted unless it’s financially impossible.

So the question is, is W&M your first choice? Are you so committed to it that you can’t envision yourself changing your mind? If the answer to both questions is “yes,” then you should certainly apply ED. There’s a smaller applicant pool in the ED round, which is to your advantage.

Congrats on the upward trend and keep it going. You have a rigorous curriculum and your SATs are in range.

W&M is my first choice

thanks for your response

Do you have a class rank? Most schools in Arlington/Alexandria, Loudoun County and Woodbridge give class ranks. That might help us to better assess your GPA.

Also, why did you stop Spanish in 9th grade? Anyway you could take Spanish 4? It’s a class we definitely like to see. It’s not a requirement but the Committee may question why you stopped Spanish in 9th grade so that may be something worth explaining in your application.

If W&M is your first choice, it cannot hurt you to apply ED. If you’re on an upward grade trned then it might be in your best interest to send your first-quarter grades with your ED application so we can see if the upward trend continues.

Assuming some of your ECs are four-year commitments, they along with your classes and standardized testing look strong. Again, hard to assess your GPA without knowing what school you go to or more about your class rank/grades.

my school doesn’t rank

i was horrible at spanish, so i thought i’d give latin a shot and that just didn’t work out either :(

foreign languages aren’t my thing, but computer ones are so i don’t know if you guys like that or not

we don’t consider computer science a foreign language. It’s more or less considered a math course. Keep in mind that if you get in to W&M you will have to take foreign language here unless you complete the fourth level of one in high school.
