<p>Hi, I was wondering what my chances for Columbia are.</p>
<p>I am from Long Island, NY and will be applying as a joint Economics/PoliSci Major, with a minor in French.</p>
<p>Academic Stats:
GPA: 3.5/6 Unweighted, 4.1/2 weighted
Rank: Top 10 %, not certain on my exact number out of 360
SAT: 2200, CR: 740, M: 700, W: 760
ACT: 31, R: 33, E: 33, M: 29, S: 27, W: 10/12
SAT II: US History 740, Molecular Bio: 670, Math I: 570. I am taking Global History and Math (since obviously my math score is terrible) this October.
AP Scholar (5 in US History, 3's in Biology and English Comp).

<p>Varsity Golf - Going into my fifth year on the varsity team, captain senior year. 4 straight league championships, 2 undefeated seasons. All Academic League
Orchestra - 9 years, principal bassist for 8 years
Chamber Orchestra - 8 years (4-8, 10-12, my 9th grade year it wasn't offered) - principal bassist for 6 of those years.
Jazz Band - 7 years - principal electric bassist for 6 years
Freshman Hockey - 1 year
Newspaper - Political Correspondant - 1 year. I will have my own column ("The Ryan Rant") this year, every issue of the newspaper.
Debate team - 1 year while it was offered
Academic Team - 1 year
National Honor Society - 3 years - I plan on running for Vice-President this year.</p>

Intern at Congressman Steve Israel's office - 9th-11th grade; i did buck letters, answered phones, etc.
Legislative Research at Congressman Steve Israel's office - Since I've been working at the Congressman's Office for four years they moved me to doing legislative research. I have spent this summer doing a research paper on the Genocide in Darfur and what the United States can do to fix it. In the beginning of the fall I will be planning a Congressional-district wide conference on the genocide in Darfur with all of the Clergy of the African-American Churches in our district.
Campaign work: Congressman Steve Israel since 2002.
Campaign work, voter Iding, petition work - Town of Babylon Democratic Party</p>
<p>Work experience:</p>
<p>Colonial Spring Golf Club - I wash clubs, store bags, etc. I work about 16 hours a week during the summer, a little less during the year. This is my second year on the job.</p>
<p>I am hoping that my political extracurriculars will help take the weight off of my less than stellar academic stats, since I am going to be a PoliSci Major.</p>
