bumppppp it

happy new year! lets celebrate with chancing!

just submitted to nyu! yes i know last minute but its done!!

Chance me?

i am not afraid to bump this a million times :)

Ah a fellow Californian! Don’t bother with the “chance back” offer because I have no such threads.

Well, I can only speak for the UCs. So here goes:

Summary:
R, I - In
SB, D - 90% In
SD - Match
B, LA - 25%

Public universities are notorious for admitting “by the numbers”. This is true of the UCs, even the ‘elite’ UCs (B,LA,SD). Now I really don’t like how people come in the name of their awesome school, though I must admit it probably gets a modicum of attention. As for your ECs: outstanding, but like I said UCs go by the numbers. No matter how much they profess to look at the entire package and not just the GPA and SAT, you have to keep in mind that they receive around 50,000 applicants (UCLA took in 55 last year) so they’re not going to pore over every detail of your application. The proof is in the numbers:

I’m going to assume that 3.73 is your weighted gpa. Here’s the admission rates for your GPA Range, by campus:
San Diego - 29.6%
Los Angeles -8.0%
Berkeley - 10.7%

The only reason why Berkeley’s admission rate is higher than LA is because LA received a larger number of applicants.

You might wonder then why I’ve generously given you a 25% on both LA and Berkeley. It’s because I’m pretty sure your extracurriculars and writing will probably boost you up and since your GPA is actually within range.

Thank you so much! That was really helpful! Thank you for taking so much time and giving me honest opinions!

anyone else? :)

Bumpin it again

bumpppppppppp

new year, new posts!

bump for a new day!

just had my birthday! chance me?

Excellent background, I feel you have what it takes to get into a majority of these colleges. The only reaches I think would be Berkley, Cal Poly, and NYU. Though because you are a minority, you may have a great chance at all of these. Good luck, chance me back please

thank you!! anyone else??

percentages would be lovely!

ill chance back!

UC: SD -high match?
I- match/in
SB- high match/ match! i knew a gril wtih almost same stats that got in here!
D- match/ high match?
B- reach (for everyone, i think)
LA- low reach/ reach
R - match/ in!
Sonoma- no idea :s
San Diego State, University of Washington-- i’m not too sure, but i’m pretty sure you’re a shoe in for these two!
NYU- high match!
Fordham - match
Cal Poly- no idea!
Pomona- do you mean pomona college? if so, reach. if its cal poly pomona, no idea…
SLO- i don’t even know what this stands for haha…

sorry i don’t know that much about UCs, but i do know some. i’m pretty sure you’ll get into NYU and Fordham though. most kids i know at NYU have like 3.4 GPA, and your ECs are pretty amazing (plus you’re mexican, like me!). but i doubt you’ll get much financial aid at NYU

my advice: go to UCSB!! its like the most beautiful school in the world, plus its really really good!

please chance me back!

btw, congrats on all your publishing! that’s pretty amazing, i wish i would have begun writing earlier and had those kind of opportunities!

I think ur good for all the UC up to UCSD, because SD is number driven, however u might be ok with UCB and UCLA since ur EC is good :D

Chance back please

thank you both!!

anyone else? i love getting a lot of opinions, im a big stats person so i need a larger sample to create an accurate assumption of where i can expect to get acceptances from.
