I don't know what to do. I'm such a bright student. Notice the straight A's and B's in Freshman year and drastically change to B's, C's, D's, and F's? I was going through depression, suicide, loss of family members and friends throughout the two years. I know it's not an excuse but I've changed for the better and I don't know how to prove it to these Universities.

I don't want to go to community college. GAP year is probably plausible but I'd really want to go to one of these colleges instead of doing a Gap Year and/ or Community College. Is there anything I can say/ do that will help me get into the college?

Should I enroll in a college (Saint Vincent College) and do one or two years there and then transfer to one of those universities?

I heard you can get in but only if you maintain an A or B average or something similar. And what is conditional acceptance? Does it pertain to students like me?

Will colleges accept me next year if I get Straight A's and one or two B's if they see my senior year grades explode with a 3.8 GPA Average? I need guidance and my counselors and parents aren't great for advisory

most are reaches and high reaches. you probably should consider doing CC and then transfer

That trend is tough, have you taken the ACT or SAT yet? I have almost the same GPA (2.78) and am 170/523 (32%) and 23 ACT, but have a upward trend, and so far I have been accepted to UTSA, HBU and TSU.

All of the schools you listed are big reaches and very selective, and I think you should look at schools a little less selective like I did, you can still transfer out latter to a bigger school, that is what I am going to do and it is better then going to a CC, personally.

Dude, you’ve posted this 5 times already, word-for-word. I don’t know what you want people to tell you.

Your chance for Stanford is super low. Even a 3.8 GPA all four years of high school would only put you into the lower end of the pack. Over 56% of Stanford students had a perfect 4.0 GPA in high school.

RPI, Penn State, University of Texas, and Pitt would all be reaches. Don’t know about Arizona.

You can look up the common data sets for all of these schools. See if your stats are within the 25th-75th percentile of the school. If they’re lower than the 25th percentile of the school, then your chance for admission is low.

Aim high if you want, but be realistic.

I think you should majorly revise your college list.

Also, I’ll second the CC recommendation. Starting at a CC is not bad at all, and will save you money.

Um GandhiHD? I will be really honest,
As a QB applicant, I saw many many student who suffer from their problems that they can’t handle, and your sufferings are definitely saddening(well for suicide and depression, not family member or friends loss. Normal people get those problems too).
But on the other hand, the students didn’t fall in their miseries but rather tried their best to do better and they succeeded.
Universities already have many kids like you, and naturally they want the kids who broke through their problems, and I think you aren’t definitely that kind at all. It seems like you didn’t try your best to snap out of your problems(in objective perspective)

The only way to show yourself is to make a damn great essay and write your situation in CA( don’t be begging or whimppy though) But I am uncertain that even a great essay can get you to the schools you want to go.

What about your SAT TESTs or other test? DId you take them? You really should ,and you probably have to do ED II if available or RD.

Being realistic and settling for less aren’t same necessarily, and you have to be realistic.

The other way is to get straight A+ in your senior year. Do some extra homework, tell your teachers. If colleges see your first semester straight A+,you will be able to show that you finally started to get over with your problems.

Like the other said, if you don’t cut for any schools then consider CC.

I hope you free yourself from your problems. Much more you feel sad for yourself, much more you will succumb in pain, and the world won’t care because it’s your problem, not the other people’s. It’s not claim, but a truth.

University of Arizona- safety
University of Texas- match
Penn State-match
Pitt-match
Stanford University- reach
RPI- match

RPI is probably the most “competitive” school you have good odds at. Good luck! chance me back please

@Zed456 I posted it a few times because I did not get a lot replies on the others.
@paul2752 As of right now I have straight A’s, and two C’s (AP Calculus and AP Physics).

I’m done screwing around. I’ve made a pretty good essay on what happened this past summer that changed me and took me out of depression (My visit to India). My SAT Score is 1590 including the essay part, taking SAT again on november 2nd, and Mathematics I and II in december. ACTs I havent really looked at. What are some schools that i could get into?
