Dang, this is good! I mean, you have done a lot indeed for your passion, and admission officers can clearly see that in all that you’ve done. I’ve done research for a while now, getting to understand what gets you in Ivy league schools and what doesn’t, and Stanford indeed has an intense process of admitting applicants. I think your GPA is amazing, and the fact that you have gotten a perfect 36 is impressive!

I’d say yes, you have a chance at getting in. Only thing I’d recommend is maybe to have a good essay, and I would wonder what classes you took, but looking at your weighted GPA, you must’ve taken some hard AP’s and honors classes. You live in California, which further increases your chance, and you’re national merit. Yea, I’d agree in saying you have what it takes. Nice!

Thanks for the reply! I took vigorous APs, taking AP Bio, AP Chem, APUSH, AP Lang, and AP Calc in the same year.

You in.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but as an Asian male STEM applicant from California you are in the worst demographic group imaginable. Here’s what you’re up against:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/harvard-university/1789566-presenting-yourself-as-less-asian-p1.html

Please be conservative about your chances, and keep a range of options. Above all, think about how to differentiate yourself from other such applicants.

UCLA, UCB: Great Chances

Wash U: Waitlist if you apply for FA
JHU: Low Reach
Pomona: Low Reach
Swarthmore: Low Reach (Likely Waitlist)
Stanford: Very Low Chance

Asian Male from CA and nothing special

Yeah, your demographic is a bummer, but there isn’t anything you can do about it. I think your application isn’t too shabby, though. I give you a chance at any of these schools, with my sentiments reflecting what @20more said minus the financial aid part (aren’t they need blind?).

I see you getting into most of the schools on your list except it’s anybody’s guess about Stanford. The most outstanding thing I see about you is the published research but only you know the details about what that really means. You’re grades and test scores are obviously competitive but as others have said your demographic group is brutal.
