Currently I have 4.0 gpa (unweighted) and 4.163 gpa (weighted). My GPA is lower because my school doesn’t offer a lot of APs (I know that Stanford and other schools accounts for that).
My most recent SAT is 1390 (superscored 1420). I know this is low but I am retaking it in october in time for Stanford early action (and I will work my butt off).
I have a lot of extracurriculars like I am the president of NHS at my school, I do LD in Debate and Extemp and Impromptu in Speech, Business Professionals of America.
I have gone to nationals for Speech and Debate for Extemporaneous Speaking and placed 16th in Java Programming in the National Tournament of Business Professionals of America (keep in mind I’m from Idaho, so the competition is a lot less)
I did Boys State and I served as a Supreme Court Justice. I participated in selective program called Leadership Boise Academy that explored leadership in my community.
My passion is computer science and I’ve attended computer science camps at Stanford, Harvard, and soon Columbia (It’s a lot easier to get into the summer courses than the schools).
I played Varsity Football my junior year and JV track sophomore and junior year (also varsity debate).
I’ve started a company that serves as a umbrella for a website I made. I created this website from scratch and it’s designed to allow students to provide feedback to teachers.
You are a competitive applicant. Try raising your SAT to at least a 1450. Your GPA is great. Write good essays and you could get accepted to either school
Cannot assess your chances to these two super selective schools, but can suggest that you try to increase your SAT score to at least 1480. Or try for an ACT score of 34 or higher.
Being from Idaho might give you a slight “geographic diversity” advantage. I think that geographic diversity may have been one thing that helped me get into Stanford (for graduate school). Your straight A’s will also help, and I think that the way that your high school computes weighted GPA is not going to matter.
Your SAT is marginal at best. Getting this up would help.
I think that you are competitive for these schools. However, I don’t think that your chances are any better than the overall acceptance rate, and probably lower unless you can get your SAT up significantly.
Also, admission to Stanford and Harvard is a mystery. Good luck. Have some good safeties.
Being from Idaho will help you get in somewhere, but it is hard to get into top schools with preparation from an Idaho high school. Your SAT score isn’t at the level for the schools that you mention. You will also need SAT IIs, particularly since you don’t have much AP scores. The ECs are decent. I would look at reaches a little lower level than those you mentioned and make sure you have matches and safeties.
The bigger weakness is subject test scores. Straight As and ECs from Idaho isn’t going to get you into Harvard etc. They want diversity and so on, but they have tons of applicants with all As in pretty much all AP classes from really tough high schools. Not sure this is top 30.
yeah definitely work on your SAT score, ECs look good, weighted GPA is on the lower end but since your school offers limited APs then I wouldn’t view it as an issue.
