3. Counselor Recs: Didn't see it but it should be good
4. Supplements: Worked really hard on all the Stanford stuff! Maybe a 9.5/10? Did good on all the other ones. Probably around 8.5-9/10

No hooks or anything =/ But my first cousin went to Stanford from 1992 - 1996. And income bracket is relatively high. OH & I'm an Asian-Indian male

Yeah I know my academics suck! Bad GPA, awful SAT's, & mediocre AP's. But idk if being internationally ranked in tkd is going to help a lot? Reallllllly reallllly wanna go to Stanford. And getting into an ivy would be awesome too. But STANFORD = DREAMMM SCHOOL!

COME ON PEOPLE. I’ll chance you back!

Thanks for chancing me earlier!

So here’s the deal, yes, academics are al little weak, but they are certainly not sucky. Your
SAT is above 2200, and that’s perfect. 2300+ just fluffs up an app, imo. Anyhow, it al comes down to if the like you or not. And hey, you have some pretty good EC’s…two varsity sports plus leadership? That makes me jealous. That shows passion. Plus, volunteering is always good.

So decent chances, just like everybody else. Hope that those essays were good and just remember, not getting in is not the end of the world. You’re smart and talented, and you’ve worked hard. I know some amazing kids who have gotten rejected, and some equally amazing kids who have gotten in (and thats from a relatively rich MI town/city).

My only question, if it is your dream school, how come you didn’t apply REA? Isn’t that the Stanford version of Yale’s SCEA or any other private school’s ED?

Very, very unlikely but you could still try. Decent academics aren’t enough to cover for your weak extracurriculars.

Good luck!

^ What would a strong EC be?

You don’t have a very good chance.

Maybe if you were Black or Latino…

Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia: Very High Reach

Brown, UPenn, Cornell, Dartmouth, Jonhs Hopkins: Could be High Reach

Duke, Northwestern, Rice: Possible

What’s hurting you here is that the ECs appear to be a random collection of stuff you did just to fill in the blanks. Anyway you can create a commonality across the ECs? e.g. you did A/B/C/D because they all satisfied a need to help people, or they allowed you be physically active 'cause you can’t sit still. I think your grades test scores are okay you just need to kill the ECs.

Most importantly though: Don’t let the DREAM school turn into your NIGHTMARE. If you think your life won’t be complete unless you go to Stanford you are approaching this thing all wrong.
