Chance me! Stanford REA + other schools :)

I’ve been contemplating whether I’m going to be applying EA to any schools, and Stanford is definitely my first choice. However, given the proximity of the deadline (November 1st) and the intense competition, I’m not sure whether its worth applying. I’m also going to be out of the country for one week in October, and I’m afraid that I won’t have enough time to do the best I can on my application.

Stats:
SAT: 1540 (750RW+790M); 7/7/8 Essay
SAT II: 770 USH (taking M2/Spanish in October)
GPA: 4.0 UW, 4.7 W
RANK: Top 1%
AP: 12 by graduation, six 5s so far.
Major: Psychology

Extracurriculars (psych-related):
Dedicated past three years to creating an online business (~1000 hrs).
Two psych-related internships at UCLA.
Trading online goods (~500 hrs).
Humanitarian Mission to Haiti on behalf of church.

Extracurriculars (non-psych):
Head of Latin American News for schools newspaper.
Volunteering at local library.
Member of Debate Club.

Additional Info:
LOCATION: Southern CA
SCHOOL: Private
INCOME: >300k
Ethnicity: Hispanic (Cuban)

So, given my situation, would it be worth applying to Stanford REA or waiting for the regular decision round? Thanks.

Reaches:
Stanford (REA), Brown, Princeton, Vanderbilt, Duke, Penn

Potential Matches:
USC, UCLA, UCB, UCSD

Safeties:
UCI, USC, UCSB

Your chances look pretty good! You have good stats, and your activities look really interesting and also support your major choice (damn, creating an online business? Good job). It also helps that you’re an URM. Your chances look much better than a lot of applicants out there.

For the REA vs. RD, have you started your essays yet? If you haven’t started your Common App, then you may be rather crunched for time.

I’m applying REA to Stanford — it’s my top choice, too. I feel so overloaded with anticipation. I haven’t sent in my application yet, and I already want to know the decision.

Quick chance back?
ACT: 35, but my SAT IIs sucked. I’m taking the October ones, but I don’t know if I want to send them in. I think my activities are pretty solid (I had some really cool internships — one as a research intern at Stanford and another at a Congressman’s office). I’m really hoping for my internships to really make me stand out and get me accepted, but not sure. I’m applying into the humanities (may polisci, english?). I’m an ORM, upperclass female. Sorry, that wasn’t a lot of information

Not sure about whether you will get into Stanford ED, but you seem too conservative your target schools. I mostly apply to schools in your reach category. Top 1% at a private school looks good, as do the exam scores, etc.
