GPA: 3.952 UW, 4.76 Weighted
SAT: 1570
SAT II: Math II - 800, Physics - 770
Intended Major: CS/CS + X
Courses: Highest possible courseload. My school is one of 2 IB schools in the world that lets students complete their diplomas a year early. I finished mine as a junior and all my classes were AP/IB, and I took them a year earlier than other students in similar classes. Basically this is the hardest possible courseload at a public school.
APs: Physics C: Mechanics (4) Physics 1 (4) Calc BC (5) US History (5) English Lang (4) World History (4) US Government and Politics (3)
IB Scores: Can’t find them right now but I got 37/45 which is high
Letters of Rec: 8-9/10, great relationships with English and Math teachers.
ECs:
Have co-founded and organized a free soccer clinic for local underprivileged elementary school students for 2 years now, am currently guiding younger students to continue the program when I leave
Internship at Blockchain startup
Participant and meeting planner at Math Club (all 4 years)
Participant in DECA Club (2 years)
School Soccer (Varsity 4 years)
Volunteer at science competition for elementary school students (2 years)
Club Soccer (12 years, I play at the highest level that is not a professional academy. I’m not getting recruited but I’m close. I start for a team that goes to the top tournaments/showcases in the country)
Essays:
I think my essays are my strongest point (maybe besides academics). I think I’m a really interesting person and I consider myself a great writer too. I think I come off as socially aware, a little humorous, and overall someone who works well with other people (highlighting experience with soccer teams). People I’ve worked with who have coached many people in college admissions have told me that my essays are incredibly well-written, unique, and profound. They also paint a cohesive picture of me and really express my curiosity and goal to make an impact on the world through my love of soccer and technology.
I’m a bit worried my ECs aren’t very good, but I think the soccer community service ties in really well with my passions and commitment to soccer. I also think I’m a lot different from most CS applicants personality-wise and in terms of where I spend a lot of my time. I think I provide a different, more socially oriented perspective on CS. On the technology side, I think I expressed well in my essays my personal interest and fascination in blockchain technology, and how this has led to me seeking out my internship and taking steps as a leader there. Additionally, I can get an extra letter of rec from 2 different Stanford athlete alums (1 is my soccer coach, another is a family friend who was a famous women’s basketball player there), or I can choose to shore up the CS deficiencies with a letter of rec from my internship mentor.
Thanks!
