EC:
Business - I created a business in middle school (revolvimg around the game Minecraft) which earned almost $50k. I created my own website & forum, marketted my product, invested (I once paid $1,600 to an advertiser and got $4000 back in revenue in return), advertised through different unsaturated mediums, hired and interviewed my own volunteer staff, and handled public relations which was one of the most difficult parts. Internal conflict is the worst when it comes to business.

My other business is now being commissioned by my school clubs for fundraisers. It has earned 500-600 since january 2016. The important thing about this business is that it’s more realistic in the world today. The company has insurance, an attorney, and FDA approved products. We also have a SSLsecured website designed by me. We have been approved to sell on amazon now, so I think our revenue will expand much more.

My third business is entering the JA company competition this year. We design websites and apps. One of our apps won the congressonal award. We have a team of 20 members.I personally probably designed 10 websites.Hopefully we will win at nationals!!! More awards yay!

My other EC:
Viola - Minnesota Youth Symphonies top orchestra, school’s chamber and orchestra, and quartet groups. Three years at the U of M quartet camp “Bravo”. First chair usually #leadership :). I also applied to Allstate and I’m pretty sure I’ll make it :smiley:

Social justice club (~40 members)- co-Founder. Super passionate about this. Like getting girls like me into tech & business, equal rights and opportunities for different races and social classes, etc. We talk about certain topics every week like cultural appropriation, feminism, objectification of women, current events, etc.

Tennis - ranked #14 (Girls 18 and younger) in Minnesota. Captain of the program and have been on varsity team for 2 years, 2 years on JV. Now playing 2nd or 3rd singles. Team sectional finalists and champions (2015, 2014). 2 years is not much, but I went through a growth spurt in my game when I decided I wanted to get to the top 20s.

Math team (4 years)
Science Olympiad (3 years)

Awards: (weak :frowning: )

ART:
MN State Fair Grand Prize: 3rd, 6th, 8th, 9th grade.
MN State Fair 1st Prize: 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th grade.
2014-2015 Scholastic Art Competition: Silver Key (x2)
2015-2016 Scholastic Art Competition: Gold Key (x3)
2006 National Youth Art Competition 3rd Place
Three paintings accepted in Minnesota’s Best 100 (2016)
2016 Best 100 Junior-Senior Scholarship Award ($200)

Tennis - most influential + most improved x3 + leadership award in tennis.

Science olympiad - 1st place at national invitational x3. Team won 2nd @ nationals.

Let me know what I can improve this year. Senior year I’m taking PSEO.
Also let me know my chances!!! :slight_smile: :slight_smile:
(Stanford, Upenn Wharton,

PS my brother is at Stanford and my sister is in Dartmouth…Legacy?

Also I don’t know if this is relevant, but I was accepted to MIT Launch, Wharton’s LBW, and UPenn’s M&TSI. I will be going to M&TSI this summer (Management & Technology Summer Institute).

Also my JA Company team won 1st @ State and we will be going to nationals. :open_mouth:

Anyhow bump!

Your academics seem pretty solid. Your ECs are definitely outstanding, and your siblings have seen success. I think that you definitely have a great shot. Good luck!

It seems that you are pretty diligent. Keep up the good work and get perfect scores on your SAT/ACT. Also do some volunteering.
You have a good shot!

Despite the extremely selective admission process, I’d say you’re very competitive for all of them, I personally wouldn’t worry about being rejected because I can almost guarantee one will accept you. Good luck!

@nHilate
Ah I only have about 60 hours of volunteering. ~40 from volunteering at a nursing home, ~20 from volunteering for tennis (kids w/ autism, underprivileged schools, cancer, etc.). Should I focus on getting more hours?
I don’t mind volunteering, especially for tennis, but it’s just that I can’t find many opportunities for volunteering in areas of my passion (tennis, website stuff, social justice, business)

You have a great shot at these schools. Try to get at least a 33 composite on your ACT.

@lovergirlparty Thanks!! My bro and sis both got 34s after their third try. We don’t come from a good standardized test taking fam :open_mouth:
Btw there’s 1 last info I forgot to add- I’m also founding the school’s art & literature magazine! It’s across our district’s 2 high schools.

@blobtown To be honest, I don’t really think the ivies care about your volunteer hours that much. Your current hours seem adequate, but if you want to put in a couple extra for the sake of the community, you can. These days, the ivies don’t care as much about academics, volunteering, or ecs. From what I can see, it is more your potential to be either influential, famous, or groundbreaking. That is why one can see so many 1900 scores at Harvard, and why they accept athletes based solely on their athletic merit. Fortunately, you fit the bill for either the primarily-academic or primarily-influential methods of acceptance, so it is my belief that you are a perfect candidate for any top school.

Nice! But that Science Olympiad thing seems a bit off. No school in Minnesota has placed 2nd nationally in recent years. Care to explain?

@joeweller
We won 2nd place at nats in 2014. Our school starts with an M if that helps. PM me and I can tell you the school.

@thewisewillrise8 hahaha. Im actually 5’3" now

@blobtown i feel like ur too perfect but one of these schools will accept u for sure, u were in middle school when u opened up a business that should rlly be a hook.

@itshalimathenerd Thanks :slight_smile: I’ll keep that suggestion in mind. I’m far from perfect lol, I kinda bombed the ACT, so I’m retaking that.

Very impressive statistics! Make sure you write good essays, get good recommendations, and you will be good to go.

@“CS Wiz”
Thank you!!!
My top schools are upenn’s wharton/M&T, and Stanford. But Stanford doesn’t appear to have a business school? :open_mouth:

Good luck to you. You will have success. Also, kudos on the ec’s. Those are just as prestigious to me as some academic competition that requires years of studying but your ec’s were probably fun and you directly benefit from the money.

@superbowser12 Appreciate the comments. I’m just doing what I love :slight_smile: :slight_smile:
