Taking feedback from previous respondents, I believe that Stony Brook University would be the best option for me for college overall. Good science program (planning on bio major), cheap tuition (I live in NY) and it’s only 30 minutes away (with the train). But what are my chances?

Gpa: 3.8 UW 4.0 W (4.33 is the highest in my school, my school doesn’t do rankings)
ACT: 32 comp not superscored (all 4 sections) (In my previous post I made a mistake and wrote “31” and was unable to correct it. Apologies by me)
AP: World History, American History, US Gov’t, Physics 1, Biology, Chemistry, Calc AB, Psychology, English Language, (4 or 5 on all tests except world history is a 3)
Execs: 150 volunteer hours at hospital (leadership in working w/ patients), model un & honor society club, tutoring students & seniors (leadership).
I live in New York and Stony Brook is a commutable distance for me. (about 30 mins)
I am no expert in this area, because I am rather new to this platform. But based on your stats, this school would be a match school for you.
I would also take the SATs if you can… lots of school take either grade but it is always good to take both.
I am also looking into Stony Brook as well… and my stats look rather the same as yours.
I don’t want to give you false hope. But believe in yourself, you have excellent scores on your APs.
According to some websites your ACT score is above avg. for applicants.
The only thing I would suggest is to take on more extracurriculars. if your school offers it. Good Luck!
Thanks for your advice. I’m planning on doing some extracurriculars now that I’ve finally finished studying for the ACT and have some extra time. I appreciate your response and wish you the best of luck as well!
lets say you have an 85 average, 1350 on the sat, took 2 SAT 2 subjects tests, taken 3 college classes, are on a team, are part of the student government, red cross club, key club, and volunteered at a hospital. What are the chances of getting into Stony Brook?
