I applied as a transfer student to Suny New Paltz and Im a sociology major..
After this Spring Semester, I should have 43 credits..

In high school I didnt do too well, and my GPA was about a 2.8.
I scored a 29 on my ACT.

My college GPA for my two semesters was a 3.3 and a 3.2. by the end of this semester my goal is to have a 3.5.

When I applied my overall average was a 3.2.

I had a letter of recommendation, and a pretty good essay.

I'm nervous. Chance me!!!!!

Do you live in NY?

You pretty much have a solid chance. I don’t see a state school (albeit, a great one) like New Paltz caring about HS grades after 20 or 25 college credits.

Yes, I live in NY!

Does that usually make a difference ?

Your high school GPA may hurt you.

I don’t think it’s looking too hot.

Correction my high school GPA was a 3.0. Not sure if that makes a difference :p

I think they have to offer preference to New Yorkers. If you get your goal of a 3.5GPA, or even just a 3.2 you should be able to get in as long as you apply early and on-time (SUNY is anal about this).

New Paltz’s website says that after 45 credits they won’t consider HS transcript. With 43, I doubt they will–but if you can find a bull***** 2 credit class… why not? But they probably won’t care. 25 is usually the line, shocked it’s at 45…

Thank YOU! Hopefully the 3.1 or 3.2 will get me in!
