Hello, just by taking a quick look, it looks pretty good :).

I’ll bold the school that I’m explaining to reduce confusion

**Syracuse University:
I’ll start with Syracuse. Syracuse is a really good school and has a variety of majors and programs. I’ll start with what Syracuse looks for, so keep this in mind during senior year. Syracuse, just like other colleges/universities look for high performing students and with excellent academic performance. Judging by your outline of your high school career so far, you are gradually increasing the difficulty of the classes you take, which is a great thing. Colleges/universities in general love to see this, so you’re on the right track. Your participation in honors and AP courses are really outstanding and should make you stand out to admission officers. Syracuse really pays the most attention to your Senior year in high school, so make sure you do really well Senior year. This means, try to shoot for all A’s and B’s, 3, 4, or 5 on your AP exams, good SAT/ACT score and Leadership. Your SAT score is really good, and you mentioned that you’ll be taking the ACT too, and it’s good that you’ve already set a goal of 30+ (clap clap for you lol) They also strongly recommend that the student should take meaningful electives that relate to their prospective major.

Along with the preparation, they also look at you and your schools educational background. School around the nation have different policies with GPA, rank and etc., Syracuse will examine your school’s policy so they can make proper and correct judgments when deciding admission.

Grades and test scores are also important when applying, but Syracuse (along with other schools) pay attention at your personality. They look at your goals and interest and stuff like that. Also they look at you EC activities and leadership. Leadership is very important during the admission process because it differentiates you with the 3,000+ of students who are also applying. Don’t let your GPA slip either, stay on top of things. Your UW and W GPA’s are in good spots, but not the best for a competitive application. Spend time Senior year and focus on your academics. I’m not saying that your GPA is bad or horrible, but there’s always room for improvement :).

**Requirements/Recommendations of Syracuse
~ 4 years of Mathematics (Algebra I and up)
~ 4 years of English/Language Arts
~ 4 years of Science
~ 4 years of Social Studies/History
~ 3 years of Foreign Language

These might seem a lot, but these are strongly recommended, not required. For more information on Syracuse: [Requirements & Applying”>http://www.syr.edu/futurestudents/undergraduate/applytosu/applying_for_admission/whatwelookfor.html]Applying for Admission](http://www.syr.edu/futurestudents/undergraduate/applytosu/requirements/firstyear_requirements.html)

**Howard University:
Almost all the same principles stated above can apply to here also, so I won’t include them all lol, to save reading ;).

**Requirements for Howard
~ 4 Years of English
~ 3 Years of Mathematics
~ 2 Years of Social Studies/History
~ 2 Years of Science W/ Lab
~ 2 Years of Foreign Language

As you can see, Syracuse is more difficult to get into than Howard but both of these school are really good. I don’t know your full Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior year schedule, but refer to this to see if you have all the required classes. Other than this, your SAT score is really competitive for this university.

Overall, you have really good chances for both of these schools and it’ll help if you posted your scores for the AP classes you’ve already taken, but you’re fine, the other information is just as good. Good luck during senior year, work hard, and don’t procrastinate because you have good chances for these schools, oh~! and do well on your ACT :).

O yes I received 5s on both Psychology and Comparative Politics exams.

^ That’s good, then you have an excellent chance.

Bumpppppppp

Bumpity bump bump

Well i dont think that your freshman grades will hurt you too much, because you showed that you CAN get very good grades. And if you play it right, you could even use your whole upward trend scenario as an advantage! I can guarantee that any colege you apply to will be impressed with your persistence and how you overcame a bad situation, and that is something you can’t represent in grades. Well, good luck to you i’m sure you’ll do fine.

It’s hard to top FV’s post. O.o

Your scores make you pretty clearly competitive for the schools you’re applying to, and your extensive ECs and future glowing recs are sure to capitalize on this.

Make sure your personal statement emphasizes your growth and current awesomeness even as you explain your adversity, and you’ll have a really strong application to both your schools.

Thank you and bumpppp.

I say you have a very good shot at both schools! Despite your low freshman grades, I think both of those schools will be very impressed by your upward trend!

Your upward trend will definitely show that you are trying at the will be a plus during admissions. I think your ec’s are great! You show leadership and passion which is why colleges look for. I would suggest retaking your Sat and actually study. Aim for an 1800+. I think you are a well rounded student and with a little higher Sat I think you have a great chance!

bumpity bump bump

Yea try to raise your SAT score by a 100 points or so and I think you are in. Also talk about the problems you had with your grades in your personal statement. Don’t forget letter of recommendations! And you might want to take some SAT Subject Tests but I don’t know if they are necessary for Sycamore.

Chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1369915-chance-me-please-santa-clara-usc-uc-schools.html</a></p>

I don’t know much about Howard, but I think you have a good chance for Syracuse.
I’d say, keep up with the ECs and try to improve on your academics.
The upward trend of your GPA would definitely help, I would try to pull it up as much as possible.
To be safer, I would make sure the SAT score is over the 75th percentile; get a 2000+ and you will have a really good chance

I think you have a great shot in both since your ECs are very good and all the other thighs are fine, too. As said, the freshman GPA is a little low, but you made a strong improvement so I wouldn’t be worried about that. With a great ACT you’ll be simply fine. Good luck! :)

I think you have a good chance, what other schools are you looking at. Chance me back?
