What's your SAT with writing?

UF is going to start looking at the writing score starting with the 2009 entering class.

sweet!! it's a 740.

I would say that you have chance, but it all depends on your application. I have a friend who I consider very intelligent, and did not get into UF because his application did not compensate for his mediocre GPA (3.0 ish). Highlight any difficulties you have had to experience, allow them to know how to spend your time and how passionate you are about your extracurriculars. If you're taking the SAT over strive for a 1400 or higher, and express a desire to join UF's honors program. Make your essay stand out and showcase your story, personality and experiences at an intimate level.

your SAT is on the high 50th percentile of the people who got admitted last year, but your GPA is pretty low compare to the people who got admitted last year also.

Your EC is very good, and I'm sure UF will like to see that. On your application , however, put as much as you can, cause that would only help impressing whoever reads your application.

Also, for your senior year , try to take rigorous classes such as a lot of APs or Honors if AP isn't offered. (But APs are recommended, I took 7 AP classes last year I believe and got admitted).

Your essay can be very important also. Since you got 740 on your SAT writing, I'm sure you will be able to write a good essay . Don't make your essay sound so boring. Make it interesting , something that would show them your individuality.

And since you're out of state, it will be a little bit harder for you to get in, but I'm sure that you have a pretty good chance of getting in.

How's your courseload? That also has an effect on your application. Does your school have an IB program? More often than not, people who are in IB usually get accepted. Not all the time, but a majority do.

I had a 32 ACT this year and a GPA very similar to yours. (Same UF weighted, but higher unweighted) I also had respectable ECs, national awards, over 300 service hours, was a triple legacy and did not get in, even after an appeal. I wouldn't rule it out, but no one can guess a UF decision anymore.

GREAT.......and yes, i took 6 APs this year, and did ok.....
