Applying to:
Barnard (ED, I think)
Haverford
Kenyon
Vassar
UChicago
Yale
Columbia (both Yale and Columbia are more for kicks - such amazing schools)
Wesleyan
Connecticut College (?)
Reed (?)
Whitman (?)

The last three I haven't visited, but I think I may like them.

Thanks so much!!

(bump)

Also, I'm expecting to write a strong essay and get really good recs, if that helps any.

Thanks, all!

Except for Columbia and Yale (reaches for most everyone), your SAT is a bit low, but everything else looks like a low to high match for the other schools. With each at, say, 50/50, your chance of getting into none of them is about 0.2%. ;) What do you want to study?

Thanks so much, vossron!

Yeah, I know about my SAT - I've taken it twice and just can't get it. I'm thinking about taking the ACT again - if that gets up higher, do you think I'm alright?

I'm leaning towards studying English or Linguistics.

I think you're already alright. :)

Appreciated :).

don't know if you want my opinion, but you should retake your SATs and/or ACTs. your ECs are pretty solid (especially your sports...WOW. =D), so if you just get those standardized stuff down, you're good to go.

thanks, jacobe91. I'm pretty sure I'll retake the ACT (and then just send that to colleges), just so I don't have to retake the SAT2s.

you can take the ACT in lieu of SAT IIs? are you sure? and its lookin good. your ECs are really strong, and they support the major that you want to go in which is reallly good.

I'm applying to Wharton. Could you chance me?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/534608-applying-wharton-there-any-chance.html

i agree with what erbody said - just get those scores up!
but just a thought - if you dont get into columbz, Barnard has a very close relationship with the college, and so if you go to Barnard, you will probably be taking a lot of classes there and will be able to get the Columbia feel.
so dont stress if ya get rejected.

love ya sista!

I did a research on about 30 colleges. Most of them require SAT II. I would say about 4 or 5 don't need SAT II if you have ACT. However, your GPA is little bit low for Yale and Columbia and I think they all need SAT II.

her gpa is low?? its 3.92 unweighted....what are you talking about

For Barnard:

Q: What standardized tests does Barnard require for first-year applicants?
A: We require the SAT Reasoning Test and two SAT Subject Tests of your choice OR the ACT with writing option. When evaluating applications, we always look at the highest combination of scores ONLY. International students for whom English is not their primary language of instruction or who have studied in English for less than five years must submit results from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam in addition to required SAT or ACT testing.

So, hoping that all goes well with the ACT, applying ED to Barnard, I shouldn't have to worry about the subject tests.
I really appreciate the research, guys. Thanks so much.
