About how high are my admission chances and merit scholarship chances for USC?
So I’m currently a high school junior looking to apply to USC and was looking for a estimate of my admission chances. And possible chances for any of their merit scholarships. My Stats are below:
Demographics:
Black female. Currently residing in Illinois. I attend a public school in the suburbs. There are 407 students in my grade level and my current rank is 24.
Intended Major: Business or Entrepreneurship
Academic GPA: 4.1563
Coursework: I had all honors class my freshman year and never got anything below a B. I had two honors class and 5 regular class due to my counselor accidentally changing my schedule for some reason and still never got anything less than a B.This year I have all IB classes and will have to take two AP tests in May for psychology and ESS. For my first semester I unfortunately had 3 A’s, 3 B’s and 1 C. I think this is because I was slightly unused to the more rigorous course load. However this semester I currently have all A’s.
Extracurriculars:
-Girl Scout since I was about 7
-Delta Sigma Theta aka Delta Gems member
-NFTE Alumni (Business program)
-Hoping to complete close to 100 hrs of community service
-Hoping to start a LGBT/GSA club at my school along with a business club.
Honors/awards:
I’ve received either distinguished scholar and/or honor roll every semester at my school since I’ve been a freshman.
I’m now sure if this counts as an award, but I was a semi finalist in my NFTE citywide competition.
Letter of recommendations:
-I’ve asked both my history, spanish and business teacher at my school for recommendation letters since they all know me very well and have influenced me in some way.
SAT/ACT
I haven’t taken either yet. I am aiming for a nearly perfect, if not perfect, score for both. I am choosing to take both in case I do better on one of them compared to the other.
Essay Topics
I plan on writing about how being a member of the both the black and LGBT community have affected both my identity and relationships with others. And how because of it I’ve faced both triumphs and discrimination. This is turn has affected the way I view business ethics and how I plan on running my own company one day. I’m also a huge natural lover and plan to include why and how I will run an environmentally friendly and sustainable company. Due to already participating in a business club and actively seeking out different business competitions I already have business ideas and even a few prototypes, all of which have been good for the environment which I believe shows my dedication.
Other interesting facts about me( I have no idea if this matters to colleges but I’d rather be safe than sorry)
-I’m a big animal lover, my personal favorite is the standard American cat and dog despite being allergic to both.
-I take huge inspiration from LGBT creators
-I love both kpop and just regular ol’ pop music, which has given me a newfound interest in dance.
-Im learning spanish in school and ASL outside of school to promote inclusivity and also just in general be more informed.
