Hi! The end of my junior year is coming up, and while I’ve always been really anxious about admissions, this year really sprang some new worries for me. I recently visited UChicago & WUSTL and absolutely fell in love, and would really like to know my chances of getting into either. Here’s my stuff:
GPA: Currently 3.936, but likely to drop around 3.8 at the end of this semester (this is what I am most insecure about)
ACT score: 34 (will retake and may score higher, that was my first time)
AP’s: AP World History, AP Physics Mechanics, Calculus BC, AP English Language, AP US Government- I took the World test last year and got a 5, but all the rest I haven’t taken the test/received my score
Extracurriculars: National Honor Society, Speech and Debate (4 year member, have had multiple leadership positions on the team, 2 year qualifier to the National Catholic tournament), a Capella group, which I will be the president of next year (2 year member, but it was only founded last year), 4 year participant in National Novel Writing Month
Next year’s AP courses: AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP Literature, AP Psychology, AP Microeconomics
Important (?) to note: Most of my B/B+'s are in math classes, which I do not intend to pursue in college, and I’m also a year advanced in math, which counts towards course rigor. I intend to go into either an English or Medical field, but will likely apply undecided. I’m very strong in English, and so I think that my personal essay will really help boost my application. My school also does not weight AP/Honors courses. I’ll also probably apply early action to UChicago, but haven’t decided if I’ll apply early decision for WUSTL.
Basically, what I want to know is, do you think that the other parts of my application make up for my low-ish GPA?
Please consider helping me out by replying & thanks in advance if you do!
