Personal Statement: wrote about how certain pieces of movie scores are reflections of my life. It's not too cliche, but I wouldn';t call it amazing. PM me if you want to read+give me feedback?

Will Apply for Financial Aid: Yes
First gen?: No. Dad went to college but does manual labor at a post office, Mom didn't go to college
URM: No

Schools I'm Applying to:
1. Columbia University (SEAS Engineering)(NO interview, never got an email asking for one)
2. RPI
3. WPI
4. Carnegie Mellon University (most likely will not interview)
5. Rice University (NO interview, deadline passed already :( )
6. Tulane University
7. Cornell University (big maybe)

uhhhhh, bump?

No one? Last bump for tonight

Maybe you were just trying to be tidy in your profile, but I don’t get the sense that your ECs are that strong. Great academics are obvious, but what is your passion outside of school? If you have shown that and can articulate that, then your chances will go up.

Otherwise:

Columbia University - big reach

RPI - no idea

WPI - no idea

Carnegie Mellon University - reach

Rice University - match

Tulane University - definitely in

Cornell University - high match/low reach

Columbia - reach
RPI - match
WPI - in
CMU - reach
Rice - match
Tulane - match
Cornell - reach

Ethnicity + Long Island = the main killers.

Otherwise, I think you should do rather well, as you do come across as a strong applicant. But like poster #4 said, your ECs could stand with some brushing up, since they really reflect about 2 main interests and no others. On the same token, that could help since it shows dedication and commitment…

And does NYSSMA really count as an EC? Shucks, if I knew that, I would have put it on my resume before I submitted it. :frowning:

Columbia University (SEAS Engineering): mid-high reach

RPI - in for sure

WPI - ^ ditto

Carnegie Mellon University - match/in

Rice University - match/in

Tulane University - in

Cornell University - low reach

Bump 10char
