Can you chance me please? Applying for accounting/finance for those colleges with business schools. All others are for Economics and/or mathematics

NYU Stern is going to be difficult, and your SATs are low but they won’t be looked upon too much since you will be a junior. The reach schools, no one can say for sure.

Also make sure you have your pre-reqs done for all the schools, especially Stern because if you don’t then they will disqualify you.

For now you have a good chance for BC, UVA…the rest I can’t really say…you have a decent chance at Stern (which means around 5%) because you have good ECs.

Schools with similar rankings can be very different schools. You can see by what I have called myself, my preference. If community involvement is very important, you may lean toward certain colleges. If school spirit and athletics are important, again it may start limiting the choices. Your given college stats are good. Also some of the schools will use your AP and other classes only as placement. I know transfers who lost over 30 credits, but were very happy, and felt they would have been too young to graduate. All of the schools should look at more than grades. They will look at your course load and the courses you have taken. Your essay will be important, and your college professor recommendations very important. Were you asked to be TA? Admissions will see a lot more about you than what you have shown us. The way you look for a school that will be a good fit, schools also look for a student that will be a good fit. Sorry not enough info to say more. Good luck.

just to let you know the schools that you listed as “match” accept very very few transfers, most elite business schools only take a handful of transfer applicants. the only schools that you may have a chance at is Umich or rice. try looking at some b-schools that accept more transfer applicants.

You didn’t tell us if you had any hooks or whether you are just a regular applicant. Your current college GPA is very good. However, you high school record could be better…but then again, it won’t matter too much. I think you could get into all these schools, but you need to distinguish yourself in the essays. Good essays could easily tip the admissions committee in your favor. Ask round for other peoples essays; I think it could be helpful. So, assuming you did a phenomenal essay, here is what I personally think.

“Reach” Schools:
UChicago - I know someone with scores lower than yours both in high school and in college that got in. But than again, that person was a URM. However, you have to research this school well and have creativity. They value intellect above everything else.
Northwestern - I think you could get in.
Duke - Idk much about Duke but they offer little financial aid, I wouldn’t focus too much on them.
Rice - Idk much about this school, but I’d say you could easily get in

“Match” Schools:
Cornell - you could get in. just research the school and have a good ass essay
UC Berkeley (Haas) - in
NYU (Stern) - essay
UVA(Micintire) - idk much but i think your in
Michigan (Ross) = in
Boston College - in

I hope you can chance me back! My latest post is “merry christmas…” best of luck to you!
Georgetown

For Berkeley make sure you have ALL pre-reqs completed. Also, since you are OOS you will be at a disadvantage because the CA transfers have priority but I have heard of Cal wanting more full-pay OOS applicants for their monetary benefit. Don’t know if that’s truth or hearsay. Good luck with all your applications though!

“Match” Schools:
Cornell - write awesome essays, and you’re practically in. I think you should NOT apply to CAS or the engineering schools, since they are the most competitive. I don’t recall but IRL and A&S (sorry don’t remember the names) have a high acceptance transfer rate!
UC Berkeley (Haas) - I think this is a competitive school, essays will matter, but I don’t see why you don’t have a chance
NYU (Stern) - same as berkely
UVA(Micintire) - this is probably your best match
Michigan (Ross) - another good match
Boston College - this is a competitive school, i think you should research the forum for this school
Georgetown - hmm this is a pretty competitive school, even more so than Cornell…

Out of your matches, I would say your in with the biggest reach being Georgetown. If you really wanted to get into Cornell, right a kick ass essay! good luck man

Wait a second. Hold up on Duke. I don’t think they accept transfer applications at all. Feel free to double check on that for me. I wanted to apply there myself a while ago, but then I found out that little tidbit…

Yeah I think Duke has only like a 4 or 5% transfer acceptance rate. It’s alright though b/c I really don’t care about that school.

Looks like, from what I’ve researched, Boston College and UMich are going to be pretty much impossible to transfer into their business schools externally?? Extremely little, almost no transfer are accepted externally. Anyone know if this is really that true??

Your majors fit Cornell A&S, which, as of the last couple years, had a TREMENDOUSLY low acceptance rate for transfers compared to Cornell’s other colleges (5% if I remember correctly). They turn down many well-qualified applicants. So yes, write amazing essays.
