Hello all! I am a current freshman at Villanova University looking to transfer to a midwest LAC in Fall 2018 as a sophomore.
I have gotten into Drake and St. Olaf, and am waiting to hear back from Macalester (my #1), Oberlin, Grinnell, and Kenyon.
College GPA: 3.67, all A’s and one B
Clubs: Secretary of Political Action club, work study for Office of Study Abroad, Secretary for Model UN, member of the Club Badminton team
High School GPA: 3.86, 9 AP Classes
Clubs: President of Model UN, Class president for Student Council, Secretary of Young Feminists Club and Young Democrats Club, intern for local congressional candidate.
Do I have a chance at getting into the above schools as a transfer? Does anyone have any stories about their own experiences? Any and all help is appreciated!
The two schools are very different. If you want a smaller community and more of a liberal arts atmosphere, I would choose Macalester (this is what I was looking for when applying to schools, but sadly Villanova did not provide that feel). There are a list of reasons why I want to transfer, but a few are the majority white, affluent, and very regional student population (majority from the northeast), the focus on the business school rather than the three other colleges, students lack of interest in issues not relating to themselves (no human rights/political action organizations), a poor Model UN program, etc. However, some students find themselves to fit in well at the university, but that has not been my experience.
