I am beginning the process of deciding where to enroll for college. I had always been aware of JMU's existence. But, being from out-of-state, I didn't know much about it and didn't look into it intensively. Now that I have done some research on the school; it seems like a perfect fit for me. Unfortunately, I discovered JMU too late and missed the application deadline by a few weeks. Consequently, I'm contemplating the possibility of transferring in 2014. I haven't even decided yet where I will enroll at for Fall 2013 (but my most likely destination is Appalachian State) so I have no college GPA to go on. But my high school GPA is 3.84 on a 4.0 scale and I scored an 1850 on my SAT. Based on my high school sucess, I anticipate a first-semester GPA upwards of 3.0 in my freshman year. Based on this, how good do you think my chances are of being admitted to JMU as a transfer student?

I think you have an excellent chance. In the most recent common data set, JMU showed over 50% of transfers were accepted. Your stats seem above average for JMU, so you will probably be fine. But give App State a chance - people I’ve known who went there loved it. Plus, even if you transfer, you want to show involvement in your current college and a good attitude.
