I am currently in a California Community College. My major is Biochemistry and I am going to apply to colleges in fall 2013 and I wanted to know if I should bother applying to UCLA and Cal.

I graduated from High School a year ago with a 3.1 gpa
My current gpa is 3.7 but I can raise it to a 3.8ish before by the end of fall 2013 (taking classes at 3 different CCs)
I am in various clubs (biology, honors etc)
I am a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Society.
I have volunteered 100+ hours and am currently volunteering in a hospital
I am a part of the honors program but have taken very little honors classes since I have so many prerequisites to complete before transferring.
I will be able to complete all my prerequisite courses and complete the IGETC before transferring.
I am currently applying for internship too.

Also, I know that it is important to join the TAP program but I have so many classes to complete.....

So should I even apply? I heard that you need to have a 3.9 and higher gpa to even be considered??
Thanks!
