Personal Statement on my Catholic Identity - 650 words
“Why Tulane?” Essay addresses how I was initially drawn by postal admissions office materials, but how my interest evolved as I verified the claims made on said materials - as well as the the relation of the city of New Orleans to my intended major (Anthropology) - 784 words

Letter
My Italian teacher of three years (she’s on COVID leave) wrote a letter of recommendation for me. She’s nominated me for the bulk of my “Coronam Fidelitas Merebit” awards, and is my favorite teacher.

Demonstrated Interest
Followed @onlyattulane on Instagram, lol.

Probably a reach, huh? We’ll see, I guess. Big thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this. Roll Wave!

I am more optimistic than you seem to be. I would give you a big thumbs up, but I truly do not know whether Tulane went too far accepting their ED1’s (your profile would have been admitted btw) that they will need to be tougher on ED2. My feeling is that you will be admitted, and the regular decision group will not be so fortunate. As you probably know, they have pretty much stated this. I am inclined to believe them.

Sorry I have to be the bad guy who tells you that you have a small chance to get into Tulane. In my opinion, (Tulane ranks 41 from US News) colleges rank around 60 may suit your stats better. In another words, you need to catch up deadlines for other colleges now. Good luck!

What holds me back the most is the whole “Demonstrated Interest” thing, which I sadly (stupidly) didn’t know the scope of until after the first ED deadline. Most sources I’ve seen speak about it, though, say that applying ED is the best way to show demonstrated interest, so hopefully I’m covered.

But, hey, man - thanks so much for your insight. People who evaluate profiles on College Confidential and r/ChanceMe are truly the unsung heroes of the college admissions process. I hope I can pay it forward someday.

No, I completely get that. I’m not getting my hopes up, for sure. I’ve applied to, and received offers of admission from several safety schools.

My major backup to Tulane is Fordham University in New York - like you say, ranked in the 60s. Because it’s a Catholic school, and I meet and exceed a lot of their benchmarks, I think Fordham shouldn’t be an issue.

@michaeluwill @FeiXing I got in! Thanks again to both of you for the insight!

I am really pleased. I thought that would happen for you. You earned it so enjoy the experience!

Congrats on your acceptance! I was accepted EA and hopefully we’ll see each other on campus next year :)). If you have the opportunity, you HAVE to tour the campus- I went last week and it was absolutely breathtaking.
