chance me! U of Florida, Northeastern, NYU, UWash Seattle

(reposted here bc i’m pretty sure i posted the original under the wrong category! lol sorry i’m new here)

hi everyone! long story short i’ve reconsidering which schools to apply to, and i’m pretty sure the above schools will be reaches for me. i’m just looking to get a sense of where my stats fall and what i could do to improve them. i’m currently a junior and have not yet been able to take the SAT.

demographics- white female from the Northeast, middle-upper income family, double legacy at NYU

GPA UW: 3.8
GPA W: 4.3
PSAT: 1300
6 APs including senior year: AP US History, AP Physics 1, AP English Lang&Comp, AP Psychology, AP English 12, AP Spanish

-National Spanish Honor Society

i’m mainly worried that my ECs aren’t focused enough in specific areas. i intend to major in either research psychology or developmental psychology, so i’m looking into research internships this summer at the university in my town. it’s gonna be more difficult given the coronavirus situation, but fingers crossed that the campus will open back up in time!

any advice would be much appreciated! just tryna get an idea of how competitive my stats are and where my expectations should be.

I think that your chances are good of getting into NYU as long as you get a really good test score

thanks! yeah i’m definitely gonna try to take the SAT at least twice

UW may be a good fit since your GPA matches the average out-of-state GPA freshman admit. You will need a strong SAT score, because the bottom 25% of OOS admits have a 1370, and it is strongly recommended that you score significantly higher, which will be a bit of a stretch given your PSAT score.

Finally, your stats are GREAT compared to some in-state admits that I know (I’m from Seattle).

Depending on your field of interest, UW would be a great fit. UW has the second most research funding of all US universities!
