Volleyball (competed nationally and won third place)
I conduct free mentoring sessions on weekends for students who struggle academically or need help with certain topics.
After lockdown, I started conducting them online.
Currently building a website to help people who struggle with online school and academics in general. The goal is to bring potential and empowering people who feel broken.
I don’t have any job/volunteer records because of strict labor laws ( i have to be 18 and I will be graduating when I’m 16)
Currently, I self-studied latex and I am self-studying human behavioural biology and philosophy (for the fun of it since I find it very interesting)
I was going to get a lab internship but got canceled due to the pandemic.
I know what will my essays be about ( they will illustrate while I continuously teach people and why I created the website and why I developed certain goals I want to achieve. The essays won’t be about the teaching or the creation of the website themselves, but about why I was motivated to do these things in the first place and how they will allow me to achieve the vision I see)
forgot to add
I was qualified and competing in a couple of other things I liked doing but they all got canceled due to COVID.
I was planning on taking the SAT but now it’s not an option because all exam centres are closed.
(BTW for my unreleased test scores, my predicted scores estimate mostly A*s and 5s but for AS exams it’s an A because of the different scale used)
(also I’ve been teaching since 5th grade its something I genuinely like doing. and as you can see, I don’t have many extracurriculars because I stuck to doing what I liked doing instead of trying to do too many things)
The topics and courses I’ve explored and found extremely interesting are:
Macroeconomics (I’ve explored it beyond highschool level)
Philosophy
Human behavioural Biology
Physics (I’ve explored it at a uni-level by reading books and watching lectures)
Cancer cells
My recommendation letters will be from the head of English and the head of chemistry (our school only allowed 2 letters per student)
If you’ve read that far, thank you soo much.
@LAN131 Which U of T?
@bouders University of Toronto (if you are asking about which college from the 7, I have not chosen one yet)
@LAN131 University of Toronto is the one most frequently referred to as U of T, but I wanted to make sure you weren’t asking about Texas or Tennessee.
U of T admits by program - engineering, computer science, humanities etc. So, your chances will vary depending on which program you are aiming for. Engineering requires essays, a resume and a video interview. CS requires essays. None of the other programs will care about your extracurriculars.
You may need a score for English. See this page - https://future.utoronto.ca/apply/english-language-requirements/.
Other requirements are by country. See this page and look up your country- https://future.utoronto.ca/apply/requirements/international-high-school-secondary/?_sft_alphabet=s
Assuming you fulfill all the English requirements, subject requirements and country requirements, your chances are very good for any program that doesn’t require essays or an interview. If you are planning to apply to engineering or computer science, your chances will depend completely on your interview and/or essays.
Complete your application early, by mid-November to have the best chance. You’ll use the 105 application on the OUAC website.
@bouders I think you are overestimating the importance of the interview and the essays. Specifically for Canadian universities, which are known to be more stats-based in their admission decisions.
For OP, I know a lot of people in SABIS but I am not sure if it’s possible to take all those exams in two different systems. Nonetheless, if you are taking A levels exams you could apply to UofT considering you are following the British system. But if UofT considered you following the US system, then you have to take the SAT 1. Because as of now UofT is still not test-optional.
If you scored 1450+ I’d say you are guaranteed admission.
