Like many of you, I'm extremely nervous and anxious when it comes to hearing back from both Berkeley and UCLA. I wanted to see if you guys could chance me to calm my nerves :P

I applied for a social sciences (political science) major at Berkeley, and a political science (pre) major with an international development (pre) major backup at UCLA

UC GPA: 3.75

Berkeley Prerequisites completed: 2/3 (will be completed by the end of the semester)
UCLA Prerequisites completed: 5/5

Will be done with IGETC certification requirements by the end of the semester

Units completed: 47
Units Enrolled: 14
Total: 61

Extracurriculars (clubs, leadership, volunteer, work): Political Science Club, Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society Member, Alpha Gamma Sigma Honors Society Vice President, Deans List 3 semesters in a row, Presidents honor, High School football Coach's award, Out of school athletics (boxing)

Personal Statement: 1st statement 7/10 2nd statement 9/10 (average of ratings given by professors)

For UCLA, the average admitted GPA for political science majors was 3.77 last year, so I think you’re in very good shape because of your GPA and pre-req completion. If you’re in good shape for UCLA, you probaby have a good chance at Berkeley since their admissions standards are relatively similar.

Berkeley will take into account your ECs and personal statement more than UCLA will, and in that regard, your ECs look very good(By the way, boxing is one of the coolest extracurricular activities I’ve seen anyone list on here.). If your professors believe your personal statement is good, than Berkeley probably will too. I think you have a good chance at both schools.

I think you have a good shot at UCLA since you are right in their range. Berkeley is hard to say because of their holistic approach. I think you will at least get into 1 of the 2, possibly both. Very unlikely you don’t get in to either but also slightly unlikely you get into both.
