Chance me UC Berkeley/UCSB 2024

Applications proving to be stressful. Just wondering what might happen!

GPA: 4.28 (UC weighted/capped), 4.5 (UC fully weighted/academic), 3.97 UW
ELC: Yes, got the letter yesterday
Major: Only god knows. Undeclared, communications, social welfare, polysci? Letters and Sciences.

SAT: Current 1450 (750 english/700 math), retaking October and hoping for improvement
AP: AP Euro (5) sophomore year, AP Spanish Lang (5) AP Lang (5), AP Chem (2, yikes) junior year
Honors: Limited for underclassmen but Chem, English, etc. With 3 years honors Theater
Senior courses: AP Psych, AP Spanish Lit, AP English Lit, AP MacroEcon, AP Gov, Reg Stats, Honors Theater
School does not rank, I think I am top 10%?

ECs: California Arts Scholar w/ Governor’s Medallion, National Hispanic Scholar, AP Scholar, 4 year theater involvement & Student Director with major program growth, co-president of Literacy club (local outreach, book drives, etc.), 4 years CSF/honor roll, 3 years Latino Student Union (just a member), Local Peer Court volunteer attorney, performing arts/voice outside of school, Student Election Officer, some school academic awards (by class), about a year working in retail at local mall. I also have a perfect score on the English section of the CAASPP test but I don’t think that really counts for anything.

In-state for California, large public high school, Female, Hispanic/Latina

Both parents are Cal grads but I know UC doesn’t look at legacy :-)-:
UCSB and Berkeley are the two main places I’m looking at but it’s hard to know. Any comments or recommendations for apps/focuses would be highly appreciated!

Your stats look good for Berkeley. It wouldn’t hurt to push that SAT a bit higher, so that’s good to give it one more shot. The good news is that IMO it’s easier to make big gains in math than with EBRW. I would say that that it’s a match.

Berkeley as you might suspect values volunteering and community work a great deal, so your ECs should help a lot.

http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-general/2127392-faq-uc-historical-frosh-admit-rates-by-hs-gpa-2018.html has some historical UC admission rates by GPA range.

You look like a competitive applicant for both schools and the rest of the UC’s. Make sure you have 1-2 safety schools on your list and best of luck.

If you don’t have Naviance, the UC Info Center publishes admit and enrollment info on your high school. Google “UC info center by admission source school” you can lookup your high school.

I have noticed that if a school has only few applicants and admitted students, the information is not published. From what I understand, it’s for privacy consideration.

Hi ca202024
I heard that Elc is designated only after submitting the application. Have you already applied to UCs? The letter you mentioned says “top student or ELC?
Thanks

ELC is only determined after the application is turned in. He most likley got a UC For You letter which is for a “top Student”

I feel like you have great chance of getting in. I know several people who are like you who got in either Berkeley or UCSD, and they are out of state. I don’t know about UCSB, but some say it’s easier than UCSD.
