Chance Me - UC Berkeley

Hey!
Was just wondering about my chances of getting into Cal(Fall 2018)

Demographics - Male, Indian (international)
SAT - 1470/1600(680 verbal, 790 math)
SAT subject tests - 800 Math II , 800 Chemistry
Intended Major - Business Administration at Haas but currently applied for IEOR + Business i.e. the MET program

EC’s -

  1. State Zonal level cricketer for under 14 and under 16 categories(50 cricketers selected from the entire state)
  2. National level Quizzer (2nd place, finalist, won several inter school quizzes)
  3. Script writer and Narrator, Theater club at school
  4. Organized a ‘Talk on Entrepreneurship’ to boost the Entrepreneurial spirit among students in my school community

Work Experience -

  1. Business Development Intern at a tech firm
  2. Accounting and Data Analysis Intern at a Chartered Accountancy firm

I’ve written decent essays for the personal insight questions.
I’ve talked about captaining the cricket team, my interest in behavioral economics, expression of creativity by making quizzes and helping my classmates get internships in the domains which they want to pursue.

Thanks!

Did you recieve an interview request? If not, unfortunately, you are not being considered for the M.E.T Program anymore. It is highly competitive, and I feel your SAT score might lower your chances as the UCs are very stat conscious.

I haven’t received an interview request yet… But I contacted the UC office of admissions and they told me that MET interviews are going to be handed out on a rolling basis over a period of two weeks starting January 10th.
Hoping for the best!
Although I’m not sure of the MET student profile… Do you reckon I have a chance to get into the engineering program?

Well, as I said, the program is super competitive - for international students like yourself, I reckon the acceptance rate is under 1%. It’s a brand-new program, so I cannot comment on the selection procedure. From what I’ve heard, they’ll accept only 1 student from India. IEOR is competitive as well (acc. rate <7%). But you never know! Your ECs are good enough that you’ll be considered as a qualified applicant, but for these schools, “qualified” means jackshit. You need to stand out in some way.

Okay thanks!
If I may ask,
What’re your stats?
