Have you run the NPC on all of these schools? Paying for them is likely to be as much of an issue as getting accepted.

What schools do you consider to be safeties? I am not sure that there is a true safety on this list (although I am a Northeast US guy so perhaps am missing something wrt the California schools).

UCB and Grinnell are both very good schools, but I am hard pressed to think of anything else that they have in common. What are you looking for?
