I'm a singaporean student aiming for a computer engineering major. I'm making this thread because I'm confident in my academics but uncertain as to the relevance/strength of my extracurriculars

Academics
GPA: 4.7 (scale is from 0.0 to 5.0)
SAT I: 2360
SAT II: 800 for Math, 800 for Physics
AP: 5 for Physics B, Chemistry, Mechanics, E&M, Statistics, Calculus BC

Extracurriculars

** 5 month long research project at local institute **
Time Spent: Roughly 2 hours a week on site, 1 hour a week at home
Subject: Creating a software model of human working memory
Result: Finalist in local science and engineering fair

One of three presenters for school at inter-school conference discussing national issues
Time Spent: Roughly 3 months preparing/training
Result: Audience responded to strongly to presentation, with most number of questions directed to us despite two other schools also presenting before the Q&A

6 month long math research project internally done in school
Time Spent: Roughly 2 hours a week
Result: Was selected by school to enter local math project festival

*Learning guitar for past two years *
Performed once with ensemble comprising mostly of young children

Member of school soccer team for past 4 years
Starting player for three years

Learnt Karate from ages of 7 to 16
Obtained Junior Black Belt

My essays have been mostly about either the first research project, what I like about computer engineering, or if the essay asks about personal qualities, my ability to do well in a variety of areas. Chance me?

u definitely seem like you have strong chance because you have worked your ec to be around math! I would also look into umadisonn because it has a strong engineering program. what is your gpa ona 40 scale? and I would try to do some community service as well. that would look good.chance me back please?

Well your stats are impeccable but your ECs (in my opinion) not so much. The research project is really good, shows a lot of passion for your field, but i’m not so sure about the other activities. There isn’t anything that really stands out other than your research. Since, top tier universities have holistic admissions, I’d say:

UCB - Reach (Engineering is competitive, and more so for OOS/Internationals)
Cornell - Reach
CMU - Reach (CS and Computer Engineering are very competitive here)
UCLA - Low Reach
USC - Low Reach
UWashington - Match

I really think you shouldn’t limit yourself to these universities, and you do need some safeties. A lot of public flagships are great for computer engineering and are less difficult to get into.

Consider applying to UW-Madison, UMass Amherst, UMich Ann Arbor and Georgia Tech.

Your EC’s are ok, but they don’t stand out. Your GPA and test scores are very good.
Some Colleges to add to your list could be UIUC, UT Austin, maybe Rice
