I was placed in and out of foster care the end of my freshmen year and most of sophmore year. moving around so much effected my grades terribly, so now my gpa is a 3.1 im a junior and im positive i wont be moving around anymore. all of my classes are dual credit. whats the highest gpa i can get now? what schools do i have chance at? i will also finish calculus 2 by this summer which will look good i think!
i am in :
-sudanese community association of ILlinois: junior president
-DECA: Placed 2nd in state and qualified for nationals
-cross country
-started a UNICEF club at a school i dont go to anymore, but its going really well and i do keep in contact
-first robotics club
-i am not taking any ap classes since im in dual credit ones at my community college.i am also homeschooled if that helps.
is their anything i should start doing to improve my chances of getting into a top 30 college?

To be blunt, your 3.1 GPA will kill you at Chicago, Penn, and Duke, though I don’t know how much admissions will take your foster care into account.

I think you should at least try for one or two of these colleges, but most of them are reaches.

UCLA- reach (try Davis instead?)
The rest are up the chance. High reaches.

Get a really good letter of rec from your teacher and anything could happen. Work on those personal statements! :)

I am also working on fundraising enough money to start a library in sudan. my parents have a house their and gave me permission to turn it into a library. the project hasn’t started, but I plan on raising about 30,000 to make it a library.would it help if I included that on my application? I haven’t taken my act yet, but I am aiming for a 31.Thanks for the responses!
