Chance me! (UCLA, UCSD, UCD, Berkeley, UCI)

Going to be a senior next year
Here are my stats:

ACT: 28 w/ 8 on essay (sadly) - I'm retaking it

Ceramics
First semester GPA: 3.83 Second semester GPA: 4.00

Classes junior year:
AP Calculus BC
AP English Lang and Comp
AP US History
AP Chemistry
Honors Physics
Media Arts

First semester GPA: 4.17 Second semester GPA: 3.83

-Planning on taking Multivariable Calculus during this summer, hopefully I get into EPGY

Classes senior year:
AP Statistics
AP English Literature
AP Gov/Econ
AP Environmental Science
AP Physics C

Extra circulars:
-Martial Arts for 8 years, 3rd degreee black belt, student teacher
-volunteered at the library
-been in a total of 5 clubs, treasurer in one
-Track Team, varsity

I know that my GPA is incredibly low so far, but will these colleges take into consideration the number of AP's and Honors classes that I've taken during those years? Plus hopefully I score somewhere in the 30's on my next ACT, I went from a 24 (fell asleep during one section) to a 28. Subject test scores are going to arrive in 5 days, I'll try and update that.
Do I even have a chance at any of these?

oh and my individual scores on the ACT are:
English 27
Math 32
Reading 22
Science 31

At this point, I’d say UCI is the only realistic one on your list (then again I knew people in hs with a 4.3 who couldn’t get in and who had about 11 APs). Try retaking your ACT and also UC schools pay a huge amount of attention to your personal statement so make it count!

I’d also agree with Dina that UCI would be the safest bet.

would anyone mind chancing me for UCLA, Cal, and Stanford?

SAT: 1870 (planning to retake and score in the 2000s because the 1870 was with no studying)

Honors Algebra 2 B B
Honors English A A
Adv Band A A

gpa: 4.0, 4.0 (weighted)

Junior year:

volunteer: local hospital around 200 hours.

thanks a ton for any input!

UCLA- Reach
UCSD- Lower Reach
UCD- Same as UCSD
Berkeley- Reach
UCI- Maybe Match? Don’t know much about it.

UCI is the most probable though.

@uclalover, ucla and cal are a bit of a reach but assuming you do better on your next SAT you have a chance (I hesitate because your ECs are very common). When it comes to schools like Stanford, you really never know since they’re so selective, I wouldn’t count on it.

thanks Dina, that kind of how I was feeling. I know Stanford is pretty much out of the question but UCLA is at least doable. thank you!

oh if it matters at all, I’m Hispanic with a learning disability… I won’t specify on the disability, but yeah that’s all.

Keep in mind the UC system doesn’t do any sort of affirmative action based on race (there’s some law or other that was passed several years ago in CA, I don’t even remember the app asking for my ethnicity). Though the learning disability will definitely help, be sure to talk about any of those factors in your personal statement, as the UC system places a lot of weight on your essays.

UCLA: reach
UCSD: low reach
UCD: high match
UCI: match

Thank you all! Hopefully on my next ACT I can score 30-34, somewhere there. Plus I think I’ve already completed the total semesters of “honors” courses that UCs accept, so I think my GPA might be inflated, which would, no doubt, hurt my chances.

can someone help me with chances?
