Hey guys, I wanted to know the chances of me getting into UCR, Merced, Etc. I'm probably going to go to community anyway, but it wouldn't hurt to know as i'd much rather attend UCR.

2.6 Overall (horrible I know)
No SAT/ACT Yet. What would I need to score for a shot?.
Did poorly sophomore year and great junior year.
Missing ALG 2 (Can I take it before I leave)?
I'm a senior in high school, Have a sibling at UCR if that helps. I lived a very rough life and have a big story to tell. I picked myself up and am now doing good in school, hopefully they see the circumstances I've faced. Is there anyone at UCR that I can contact so I can talk to them about my chances? Thanks!

Are you applying as a freshman? Is 2.6 your UC GPA? My son was waitlisted at UCR with a 3.1 UCGPA and @1900 SAT and decent EC’s high school class of 2011. He did eventually get in.

Nope it’s the same, but I’m taking 2 classes at a community during winter session. I actually spoke to UCR over the phone, I’m taking ALG 2, and English 9H. Will those two effect my GPA at all? And I’ve really picked up the pace from my previous years and am taking 3 A-G classes in my senior year. I was told that I have to get at least a 1700 to have a chance and around 1800 to probably get in. Does that seem right? My brother is a student at UCR so I have no idea if that will help me.

I’m sorry to tell you this but unless you can write a beautiful essay about All the hardships you’ve encountered while getting your sat score up to at least 1900 (to make up for your gpa) you may have a shot.

Calculate your UC GPA and see where you stand. Because of the way they calculate, It could be significantly different than the 2.6 on your transcript.
CSU uses the same methodology, use this tool to see where you stand.

If you decide to bump again, please take the time to calculate and include your UCGPA (not sure what “overall” means). There are some “exceptions” (i.e. by exception or by examination) otherwise, that really is the bottom line.
