SAT Score: 1760
ACT: 25
SAT II:
690-Bio, US history
590-Math

Chance me at:
Berkley, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, Stanford, Northeastern, and any ivy leagues...

My brother goes to Berkley. He didn’t get into Stanford. He got maybe a 4.3-4.5 I’m not sure, 800 on math SAT II, 780 on Physics I think, 2240 on SAT (800 on the math). He had at least 3 AP classes every year and got 5’s on all his AP tests. Your test scores are really going to hurt you. I got 28 on ACT and 770 on math sat II/700 on bio and those schools are way too hard for me to get into (I didn’t apply to any of them, then again my GPA is lower). Just saying my opinion, doesn’t hurt to apply to any of them but definitely make sure you have safety schools.

Well, I’m hoping the whole ethnicity card will work. Sad to say it haha… My UC essay was how I overcame coming from a multi racial family, and my mother being white and my dad being black it was hard going to a all white elementry school. And my 2nd essay is how I overcame lisping and not fitting in to giving the 6th grade graduatian speech to continue in how I do mock trial, public speaking, interview bands, etc etc.

I’m retaking the SAT and ACT btw… I was really hoping the whole 1st generation college stuff would help, but who knows.

I honestly can do better on the SAT… I haven’t studied at all, but the test is in like a week so I’m hoping I can atleast get a 2000, but I never had the money for the classes or anything, so it kinda keeps getting postponed.

I was thinking I could get into UCSB at the least?

ur being native american will only help you at private collegse, not the UC’s.

It certainly will help, but only to a point. The thing is, there may be other first generation applicants, many of whom have had to go through similar hardships, who have stronger SAT scores than you. They will be the ones you are competing against for admission. Certainly at Ivy League colleges, there are quite a few first generation applicants with 2000+ SAT scores…

Aside from scores, you’re quite a decent applicant, so best of luck with your applications.

Yeah, I was originally only applying to UC’s, but my teacher encouraged me to apply to privates, so here I am. I am not even putting down NA I don’t think. I don’t really identify with it, so I’m not sure if I’m even going to list it.

All right. That is it, I am just studying for SAT for like 5 hours a night for the next week. I guess I need to apply my self. I need to get my USC application in though…

So if I raise my scores, do you think I have a chance at the schools I’m applying? Despite my bad sat 2 scores?

I would like to note that the last time I took the ACT, I got an atrocious score. I have no idea how I got it, but I got 12/12 on the writing with a comment. Should I pay the $30 to check if they messed up? I felt like I atleast got a 29.

other comments from anyone please?

Look, I think you are a very compelling human being (though of course that will be up to the admissions officers to decide). Your critical weakness, and essentially your only issue, are the test scores (including SAT subject test scores - if you have time improve them too). Bring them up and you will have a very solid chance, assuming all your recs are solid and your essays convey the very human dimension you no doubt have.

That’s a compelling mix of races. The best 3 under-represented minorities. If there’s any way you can bump SAT I scores to over 2000 and SAT IIs over 600 for each you’d be a shoo-in - at ALL of the schools, including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Stanford.

Although your URM status will undoubtedly help, the reality is there are many URM’s with far better SAT/SATII/ACT scores. If you can get those up, I think you will be at least competitive at the Ivy’s.

Thanks for your input guys. It’s much appreciated :).

gpa looks good, but for ucla and berkeley, those sat scores need to go up :[
can you take it again in december?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/818039-chance-me-please-d-ucs-others.html

Yes I am taking it in December.

do you think it would be possible to get over 2100?

Honestly, anything is possible. For US history, my exam I had a great teacher, but crammed the night before I got a 5. For AP Biology, I crammed, and I got a 5. For AP English, I left like 13 blanked on the MC and got a 4.

My scores currently are 630 CR, 600 Math, 530 Writing.

I have a feeling I can raise math and writing with application. What do you think leone?

*Note: on my math section I got 9 incorrect in geometry and measurement. Only 4 wrong in other sections…

1 omitted. I have a feeling I can easily correct geometry and measurement by studying…

Uhh…is the 4.65 weighted gpa calculated with all honors and ap classes? I thought UCs only give 4 extra points for advanced courses, except UCLA.

Oh, VERY impressive AP Bio score by the way, not many Juniors at my school got 5s, and you got it when you were a Sophmore!!

Thats my gpa for all honors included. A-gpa is above 4.0 with only 8 extra honor points allowed. Thanks :). I loved biology! I wish would of studided for the sat 2… i took it a month after the ap exam looking at 0 biology. if only i kneww what a difference it could make…
