UC’s are very GPA focused so below a 4.0 UC GPA will hurt your chances. You have competitive test scores and if your write some great personal insight essays, you could bump up your chances. Much will also depend upon your intended major especially for Engineering and STEM-related majors.
Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19
UCSB: 49% - High Match based on your stats
Good Luck.
If I excluded Spanish, It would rise all the way up to 4.04 Unweighted. I think that might help my chances if colleges do not value languages as much as other classes.
I am still not 100% decided on a major but I definitely want to major in something related to math. Currently I am looking into Acturial Science which happens to be exclusive to UCSB.
Foreign language is a required course for UC admission and is included in the UC GPA calculation. You cannot just exclude it at your whim.

The subject requirement
History/social science (“a”) – Two years, including one year of world history, cultures and historical geography and one year of U.S. history, or one-half year of U.S. history and one-half year of American government or civics.
English (“b”) – Four years of college preparatory English that integrates reading of classic and modern literature, frequent and regular writing, and practice listening and speaking.
Mathematics (“c”) –Three years of college-preparatory math, including or integrating the topics covered in elementary and advanced algebra and two- and three-dimensional geometry.
Laboratory science (“d”) – Two years of laboratory science providing fundamental knowledge in at least two of the three disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics.
Language other than English (“e”) – Two years of the same language other than English or equivalent to the second level of high school instruction.
Visual and performing arts (“f”) – One year chosen from dance, music, theater or the visual arts.
College-preparatory elective (“g”) – One year chosen from the “a-f” courses beyond those used to satisfy the requirements above, or courses that have been approved solely in the elective area.
I did not mean excluding it on application. I meant that a college might be more friendly to my GPA if it was a weaker grades in a language than a standard subject like Math or English. Also the grades in question were mostly consistant B withs 1 C so I would not really be embarrassed enough to not include them. Where you get your low and high grades probably matter so I was curious if that would make my GPA slightly more appealing.
All a-g course requirements will be included in your UC GPA calculation that UCSB will use to determine your admission decision. Your UC GPA is what it is with all the grades from all the required courses. If the UC’s considered FL grades less important, they would not be considered a requirement for admission.
