Have you computed your UF GPA?

Someone published this link recently and it is a great tool to figure out the Florida SUS core class GPA. Only enter your academic, high school level or above classes. Math, English, Science, Foreign Language, Social Studies plus all AP and DE. (DO NOT include non-academic classes like art, journalism, office aide, web design, yearbook, band, etc.)

Knowing your UF GPA will help people make an assessment. It is also helpful to know your class rank and even better if you know how many kids from your high school usually get admitted to UF.

A couple initial comments: a 27 on the ACT would put you in the bottom 25 percent of applicants who were admitted last year. Not a total dealbreaker because UF weighs grades, rigor, ECs, and essay above test scores; but it doesn’t help you. Your rigor and ECs look good. Part-time work is a good thing. Sadly, legacy status is no longer considered in admissions, according to UF’s published Common Data Set. It was considered a year so ago, but not anymore.

That is my recalculated GPA. I do not think more than one a year have been admitted, but that is because we have really good in state schools. My rank is top 15%, but I go to a very large high school and it is magnet so it is very competitive. (Valedictorian has a 4.95).

I think UF is a reach for you. Be sure to have some safeties lined up. Good luck and let us know what happens.
