I'm thinking about applying to engineering/las

GPA: 3.866 W 3.76 UW (I have many honors and a few ap classes so far- taking 5 AP senior year).
Rank: top 18% out of 450 students in my class.
ACT: 26 (trying to improve... one last chance in September- hoping for 28+ at least).

EC's: I played on the football team through junior year (we won state junior year and I was on that team)... I have played in our school's band and have been in the top band since sophomore year. Senior year I will not be doing football, because I wanted to participate in marching band- I would like to march in college. I have had a job at a local fast food restaurant since the summer before sophomore year, and have leadership qualities I will write about in my essay from this. I have some volunteer hours at my local food pantry as well. (I have some great examples of how I prepared all my life for my majors choices for the essay)...

I'm thinking about CS- I know this will be hard without a better ACT score...
If not, LAS at u of I with a major in biochemistry sounds appealing.
Let me know if CS vs aeronautical engineering is harder one way or the other.
Sorry if my grammar sucked in this, I don't have time to look it over lol.
Thanks for your time!

Bump- any chances?

You will need a better ACT score to be sure for acceptance at The Ohio State University. A 25% application increase is expected this upcoming year due to Common App implementation. The Ave ACT score for last year’s freshman class was 28.5; however, since you are out of the state, you do have a slight edge over others in terms of admission. I don’t know about Purdue and UIUC. In short, Best of Luck to you & Go Bucks!! :)

P.S. TOSU had recently hired a new Engineering College Dean whose a graduate of University of Cambridge as an attempt to propel the school into an elite status. http://www.osu.edu/news/newsitem3041

I’m not sure about Ohio State, but for Purdue and UIUC you definitely need to raise your act if you want to major in engineering as both of those schools have very strong engineering programs. Even if you can raise your act, it still won’t be a shoo-in, but you will have a solid chance. If you are just going for biochem, and you get your act up a bit, you will have a much higher chance than you would for engineering. Good luck!
