I can only talk about Boston College, since I applied to only there from your list last year. I agree with you taking the ACT again, a 30 while not bad, isn’t a top score. I think your SAT subject tests are fine, although if you’re good at math, try for an 800 at Math 2? you never know. Your academics in terms of classes are pretty strong so nothing to worry about there as long as you maintain a competitive GPA. Your extracurriculars aren’t spectacular; however, they are impressive. Boston College doesn’t place as much emphasis on their essays as some schools, so if you don’t have a hook, I honestly think thats ok. Overall, a strong applicant for Boston College!
UNC and UVA are reaches unless you are from North Carolina or Virginia. I think you will have a good chance at BC, NYU, Tulane, and UGA if you raise your ACT score. I actually think contrary to what @armadaswim posted about BC, they do place an emphasis on essays and why you fit the Jesuit model.
@armadaswim did you apply to CSOM, MCAS, or LSOE at BC and did you get in?
@crystalwaters23 I only applied to BC and I was accepted in Spring 2016 into the Caroll School of Management. I guess I said that I felt that BC didn’t place much emphasis on essays was because I consider myself a pretty weak essay writer and thought that BC placed more emphasis on my stats as a result.
@armadaswim I think you are not giving yourself enough credit haha. Your stats are good and your essays probably weren’t half bad either.
@crystalwaters23 I suppose so haha. Essays are definitely a core component of the application, there’s no doubt about that.
