You’ll really need to get that gpa up before anything else if you want a decent shot…
You’ll probably need to pull-up that GPA and get in the 1300+range on the new SAT. Or be a star athlete
If you are an out-of-state student, look at other schools. Nobody wants to crush your dreams, but you have no chance. If you are in-state, know that UNC has become more competitive every year, and unfortunately, your GPA will make it difficult to get in. UNC reported that 78% of their incoming students are in the top 10% of their graduating classes and I suspect that with a weighted 3.2, you’re coming in at around top 25% or so at best. That tells you what you’re up against in terms of grades. With your weighted average being pretty close to the UW average, I’m going to assume you didn’t take many AP classes. Most admitted students will have taken many AP classes unless their high schools didn’t offer them. At this point in your high school career, there’s not much you can do to change your stats. Just continue to study hard and be realistic about your options. Apply to UNC by all means, but just be honest with yourself and know that there’s only a very slim chance you’d be accepted. Make sure you apply to at least one other college you know you’d be happy attending, where you also know you’ll get in (guidance counselor can help you with this) and that you can afford.
If you have your heart set on UNC Chapel Hill, another option would be to transfer in from a community college in your area (some have programs for direct admit if you meet certain criteria) or from another UNC system campus. UNC Charlotte and UNC Greensboro are two that we visited and liked. Really, if you’re in-state, consider yourself fortunate because we have a really good state university system.
I’d also recommend taking the SAT again if you can find the time to study for it. Most people improve somewhat between the first and second sittings if only because they’ve done it before and know what to expect. But studying really can help. If the SAT didn’t turn out the way you expected, you might score better on the ACT. I’m not sure if there is as much of a difference now since the most recent SAT overhaul, but it’s something to think about. It’s unlikely to change your chances at UNC-CH, but it might help you at some of your other choices.
Lastly, apply ridiculously early to at least one college you think you’ll get into. Several of the UNC schools send out the acceptance letters for early admission students very early. I cannot emphasize enough how nice it is to know by Thanksgiving that someone wants you and you’re going to college.
