Match. Your weighted GPA is high enough to get you in (generally anyone with 4.5 and above gets accepted - anyone in the 4.2-4.4 gets maybe responses, and generally anyone with 4.2 or below is denied - this is what admissions officers have said - and you’re definitely in the 4.5 and above range), and your extracurriculars and SAT are strong. I’d say you have a high chance of getting an acceptance level from Chapel Hill.

Low match for both. I think you have a pretty good chance of getting into both. Good luck. Please chance back

Match - please chance me too:

Match. You should most likely be accepted.

low match (:

chance me too please

lol…I can’t understand why “high match” has a lower percentile range than “low match”. hmmm…
Anyways…you are competitive. Those that are not, are less likely to receive scholarships–this is what you should be keeping in mind.

I was looking for a Chance thread for UNC CHemistry Grad and found this.

Wow, college must be harder to get into, even though it has only been 4 years. I had very similar stats in high school (same SAT on the mark) and far fewer EC’s but got into a top 5 LAC. You are far better qualified than I was when I was applying.

Acceptance rates (Current):
UNC - ~30-35%
My school - ~18%

I’d say safety or low-match. You should be looking into better schools.

Safety! Especially for UNC - Chapel Hill, since you are in-state. :)

UNC is a stellar university…I don’t think it should be so degraded as to count as a safety. I just hope people don’t mistake its curriculum as easy…
After all—it is among one of our top 25 universities in U.S.
Yes, the OP has a good chance of getting in b/c its public uni status requires it to accept 80% of instate pupils. However, do consider that this year UNC received 14,000 candidates.

14,000–gulp!!

Polo, don’t get me wrong…I certainly don’t mean to denigrate UNC Chapel Hill. One of the many reasons why I love living here in NC is that we have such a great public university system, with such a fantastic flagship.

But, as you say–the OP is a mighty strong candidate. Those ECs are downright intimidating, LOL.

Safety. UNC’s in-state acceptance rate is 50%. There’s no way you won’t get in, especially with those extracurriculars. :)

Lol don’t worry, it’s just that UNC is no show-in for every in-stater  (Which is personally why I am worried myself). Plus, there could be a likelihood that a very well qualified individual from his/her school may not get admission. So I would not automatically garauntee the OP his/her seat at the uni.
Anything can happen: with what the statistics for first deadline show…I am already feeling the pressure.

I still don’t think there’s any reason whatsoever for the OP to worry. A friend of mine last year got in with I think a 2030 SAT, and she had straight A’s, but she had only taken 3 AP classes total and in her senior year. And she definitely did not have such amazing extracurriculars. Mostly musicals and church volunteering. I agree that it’s not a shoo-in for every in-stater, but I believe that most people with a GPA of 4.5+, SAT of 2000/2100+, and pretty good extracurriculars are in, especially with good essays.

If you CHANCE BACK, that means that you know the required criteria. So why on earth are you asking to be CHANCED when you know the answer? No one on collegeconfidential knows whether or not you are going to get in. College acceptance is a crapshoot. I like to imagine that I am Grits N Gravy rolling 77 7’s at a casino, but I’m not.
